Kent Municipal Cemetery

Also known as the Old Agassiz Cemetery.Absolutely beautiful old cemetery tucked away in a rural setting. The cemetery is located on a hill, which is quite steep in parts, therefore it's not recommended for anyone who cannot do steep, uneven stairs, or who are unsteady on their feet. There are rough stairs that go up to the top (row 19) where it flattens out a bit and this is where the Agassiz family are buried.Many graves are not marked. To see plots and headstones requires leaving the stairway, and it is very steep and hard to traverse. The ground is quite spongy and it's easy to lose your footing. Many stones have worn away, but it is a beautiful, serene resting place.The first burial was in 1900, and then closed in 1946, although burials continued until 1976. There is a map of plots at the base of the hill, although many plots have not yet been identified. It's definitely worth exploring and remembering the many individuals who lived in the 1800s, early 1900s.
