Wow....unbelievably rude and disorganized people working for this organization. Twice a year Diabetes Foundation calls to see if I have anything to donate because I've donated in the past. They also send emails regarding donations. So they recently sent me an email at which time I decided, yes, I'll clean out my closets, etc., and schedule a pickup. NOBODY came. This is the second time this has happened. The last time was last year in the summer. So the last two consecutive times I've scheduled pickups NOBODY showed up. My donation sat outside for days! Here's the kicker and what makes me very frustrated....when I called to complain, I was met with an incredibly abrupt and rude man who appears to be I think the supervisor or manager, I can't remember which, but he had NO interpersonal skills at all in which he handled my concern! First of all, he answered the phone so sharp and abruptly that I barely understood what he said - my first clue that this was going to be a difficult man to speak with. I was right. He dismissed and excused everything I said and wasn't willing to hear me out when I told him what I had experienced. It was more important for him to speak over me and get his say in...so, yes, I was rude back to him as this frustrated me even more. It is obvious to me that he doesn't care about improving their system and learning how to do things better or more efficiently. He sounds like a puffed up little man with something to prove and the need to display his power. He has major issues and has no place to be working for a foundation that deals with people.First of all, to the people who run the foundation... you have no business calling people or sending emails asking for donations if you are not going to pick them up...especially when you schedule an actual pickup for an actual date and time! I understand that things happen that are not in our control, but we do still have phones and emails where you can communicate those unfortunate circumstances and give a person the heads-up..Second, to the manager I spoke to...if you don't like your job then do yourself and everybody else a favour and quit. You definitely do not have the people skills or communication skills to be in this position. You are the most most discourteous and bad-mannered individual that I have ever had the pleasure" of speaking to on the phone...it worries me that someone with your disrespectful temperament is representing such a good and needed cause. There are a lot of other more respectful foundations out there that I will be more than delighted to donate to as will my friends and family now that they have heard about this. If this was a one-off situation

As another reviewer had posted, I too have had this same experience with Canada Diabetes. I did everything right- my spouse had placed my donation bag in our front yard here in Garneau just yesterday morning, and NOBODY came to pick it up! And this is the 2nd time too that this has happened. There isn't any of those red bins around here in this area, or else I would just take it there myself, even if I had to take the bus to do it, as I don't drive. And yeah, they sent me a 'friendly reminder' by email, and I had also marked the date even on the calendar. They call our landline every once in a while to ask if we have anything to donate, so why are they not sending out drivers?! Geez... as I have diabetes myself, naturally I like to support this organization, but now I'm thinking that from now on, I'll just take my clothing to Value Village on Whyte Ave!UPDATE: Two weeks ago I finally did call them, only to get their voicemail pick up, so I had left a message and my phone number. They never did call me back. That to me is extremely POOR customer service! I'll never bother dealing with Canada Diabetes again.
