Was introduced to the Cherry Lane B&B by my best friend’s family that farms in the area. Have gone for many dinners and Sunday breakfast over the past few years. Melisa, Adam, and the rest of the family & staff are so welcoming, unbelievable cooks and must have some of the best Cinnamon buns in Alberta... if not the world. Highly recommend checking out Cherry Lane if you’re heading down the 56, trust me you will not regret it!!

How do a couple of “Foodies” have an exceptional culinary adventure close to home? Some of our jaunts included setting the parameters of the adventure to only making left turns at major intersections, and after an agreed-to period of time, stopping in at the nearest civilization, and choosing a place to grab a bite. Normally, we have a rating system for our reviews, based on Starters/Appetizers, if the establishment provided such. Those Starters/Appetizers are either Calamari or Salt & Pepper Wings; So Far - Top Accolade for Calamari is Leto’s, in Lacombe, AB - For Salt & Pepper Wings is the Truffle Pig, in Field, BC.So, this evening, after a seemingly long hiatus from our Food Adventures, with our day off together; We made plans!! Then, upon setting out, a suggestion was made, and the plans changed, just like that (sort of a “Left Turn”) and we decided on dining at the Cherry Lane Café. This wonderful establishment is situated south of the Battle River Valley on Highway #56, a bit to the East of the highway. Impactful signage will lead the way.The setting is inviting and impressed there is a lot that can be pleasurably experienced on the grounds. We, of course, were there for a culinary delight.Upon entering the café, we were cheerfully welcomed, and given the liberty to choose where we would like to sit. The dining area had a cozy atmosphere, complemented with simple décor. The warm wood tones and features throughout gave it a western feel, complemented by the natural wood table-tops and the wall decorations. I appreciate music in eateries. Cherry Lane Café used the right volume and style of background music. The country tunes seemed a bit off the beaten track from usual radio fare, so it was pleasant. I’d suggest some similar options with instrumental renditions. After seating, our friendly server made us feel at home and interested in our having a great experience. She requested our drink order, and pleasantly adapted to additional items desired. Our server set the tone for an awesome experience. We ordered two Saturday Night Combos, including a quarter Chicken and a Half-Rack of Pork Ribs, Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and a Veggie with Peppers Medley. Not serving coleslaw, our empowered server worked with me to accommodate some pickles of some kind. What she had created, with the dills, peppers, and spicy green & yellow beans fit the meal perfectly. The potatoes were the creamiest, the veggie medley was the perfect complement, and the chicken was roasted superbly. full of flavour, and moist to the bone. I thought the chicken was brined, but the chef confirmed he uses a couple of other skills to accomplish that.My wife is a rib fan, but not a barbeque sauce fan. I’m not a rib fan, nor barbeque sauce fan, at all, but on this adventure, I was more willing to try different fare. The ribs were superb, smoked to perfection, moist too, falling off the bone. The barbeque sauce was perfectly balanced; not too sweet, not too sour, with a savouriness that seriously impressed my wife. To say the least, we cleaned our plates and the bones! Just Wonderful! Then it came time for dessert. And as with all the rest of the meal they are home-made, too! The list was short, but delectable. The Salted Caramel, 4-Layer Chocolate Cake caught my fancy, but the idea to share a lighter item with my wife sounded like a much better plan; we chose the Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake with fresh raspberry compote enveloping the slice like a ruby crown. The flavour explosion with the first and subsequent bites were just WOW!! It was the perfect finish to an exceptional meal, that left us very pleasantly satisfied. As things were winding down, readying ourselves to leave, the chef came out and visited, chatting, and sharing his passion for food that he and the team prepare for us to enjoy. His visit just topped the meal off right!Thank you, Cherry Lane Café, for making our Foodie Adventure just That Much More!!Sincerely,Ken & Ofelia Morrison

Just celebrating our 35th Wedding Anniversary over the long weekend. Myself and Joan and our family and friends really enjoyed the accommodation and the always excellent food and wonderful owners. Our very picky 4 year old grandson really enjoyed his specially prepared supper. We will be back Melissa and Adam.

We were unable to stay here as the B and B was fully booked, so today we only ate brunch here. Worth the minor detour to come here! Delicious food, Adam the chef came to check on us a couple of times as did Melissa. The signature decadent chocolate cake we took away was savoured bite by bite on the car ride home. They let us view the property after brunch, which makes us want to come stay here with a group of friends or family. So carefully and cleverly updated, tasteful decor, spotlessly clean, and friendly. Long live Cherry Lane!

Love this place! We don't live too far away and decided to have a little getaway close to home. We reserved the romance suite. It's lovely. We had dinner in the saloon. It was fantastic! Best food I've had in a really long time and very reasonably priced. The hosts are so friendly. We will be regulars and I highly recommend for a little getaway or just dinner. It's a must try.
