The Captain's Boil
I tried both variations of the sizzling plate: both the chicken and the fish. I don't know if it's because we chose different sauces for the two but the fish didn't have much taste with just the garlic sauce. For the chicken teriyaki, we had the mild captains boil sauce and it was delicious. The service was ok until the end when they grabbed another tables bill off the counter that they clearly already paid for and tried to pass it off as mine. What even???

Fun experience. Kind of unsettling at first when the servers bring you a plastic bag of food! The dining concept works best if you order a selection of dishes and share the food. You can dump the food onto the table and enjoy the flavours. Not a good place for a first date!

It was so good. Food was fantastic, fresh and hot! Service was pretty fast for a busy Saturday night. They did forget our order of rice, so had to wait an extra 10 minutes after we were done our food. But an overall great experience. Will go again.

The Captain's Boil
Great local seafood restaurant, with friendly and welcoming staff. If you don't mind getting messy you'll enjoy some of the best local seafood in Coquitlam. Be prepared to put on gloves and a bib because it can get messy. Some might not enjoy the experience of eating with your hands and leaving a mess on the table but if you do you found the right place.

The crawfish was great so was the shrimp. However, the mussels were overcooked. They were still over cooked after they replaced them. Great looking place however, the vibe wasn't great. No music. Servers on there phones. They need to work on the ambience.

The seafood is at reasonable price. You can choose your own sauce for the seafood. I strongly recommend Captain's Boil's signature sauce! Food tastes great! The only down side why I didn't give it a 5 star is the variety of food is minimal. Everything is mainly seafood, for people who don't like seafood probably cannot find things to eat.

The food itself wasn't bad, but the service was terrible and had one of the worst experiences in a group while. Understandably, they seem understaffed, but it took a very long time for one of the servers to come to even ask if we wanted any drinks, and that shouldn't be acceptable in any restaurant let alone a pricier one. It took us at least a couple of times for us to repeat each request we ask of the server, such as getting a missing bib or glove, lemons, etc.I'm also a not fan of the plastic bags that the seafood comes in, even though it's claimed that they're biodegradable. I think they can do much better than serving it in plastic bags. The only seafood that didn't come in a plastic bag was the raw oysters. And I highly suggest train the staff better and hire more workers and perhaps a dishwasher. The quality of the service given was just unacceptable for the price paid (approximately $30/person)

Been here twice now. My first visit was not good (service was slow and sooooo many mistakes with the order), it was there 1 first month so I gave them another try. Surprise! There was an improvement. Service was quicker this time and there was no error on our order. But they should add more staff on the floor. The food was delicious (especially the captain's boil sauce). I enjoyed the fried rice on both visits, but I appreciated the food with the steam rice. The staff are friendly and reasonable price for sea food. Limited free parking, clean, and well lighted. Will go back again to check if service has improved.Update. Went back yesterday February 12. A big improvement on the service, it's faster. Exhaust system needs improvement. From 3 to 4 stars.

The Captain's Boil
I rarely give five star rating and this restaurant is one of them. It is more than food. It is an experience. Every seafood lover should try it once. The ambience and the decor perfectly matches the decor. I tried the shrimps with Captains Boil sauce with medium spicy and it was awesome. There was a tang from the lemon and a tinge of heat from the peppers. The best thing about the concept is that they let you play with your food. You feel like a kid all over again. Loved it. Best enjoyed with friends.
