Towards Recovery Clinic

The admin staff here are wonderful, however more than once the doctors have messed up my prescription, causing me to miss my dose. They push lots of unnecessary testing and clinic visits. They are focused on milking our healthcare system instead of helping patients.

started going to OATC and experienced nightmare level treatment. switched to TRC and experienced a totally different program. Unfortunately I feel methadone is not a very good program for those who actually wish to eventually become substance free some day.. It's difficult to work while on methadone especially if carries are withheld. The carry aspect should be reworked and provided for more than just the patients who don't use any street drugs at all. By having carries it allows you to find and maintain employment much much much easier, whereas without carries, employment becomes extremely difficult. There used to be pharmacies which opened up early enough so you could get your dose before your work shift started in the morning, but these days, it's rare to live anywhere close to a pharmacy which will serve methadone before 9am. If you've tried to hold down a job where you take your dose after work instead of before, you know as well as I do that it makes most days at work feel twice as long and very difficult to get out of bed in the morning for. It's a shame!

**YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!***DO NOT USE THE PHARMACY SIDE UNTIL SOMETHING CHANGES!!!EVERY SATURDAY for 3 months ive waited for my carries for an hour minimum.. The staff on the Clinic side are always Awesome and FAST!.!! but the Pharmacy Side is just incredibly SLOW, UNORGANIZED, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Pulling in today the driveway was PACKED FULL... There was a lineup of 10 ppl waiting inside at the PHARMACY & the clinic side was EMPTY. After 2 mins I finished seeing the doctor so I went to the pharmacy to let the NEW PHARMACIST MAN know that I was finished seeing the doctor, He just looked at me and looked back at his computer... obviously he heard me so i Sat and waited politely.. After 30 mins of waiting I told the same NEW PHARMACIST MAN that i am still waiting for my prescription and he looked at me and looked down again... (im now thinking he must be a co-op PHARMACIST MAN in training or probably NOT speak english}. I than asked the lady Pharmacist if my prescription was ready she than walked around confused looking for something, she came back and asked if ive seen the doctor yet because she wasn't aware I was even waiting.. i was realizing that they had not even started on my prescriptionafter 45 mins of waiting so i told her to just cancel and send my prescription to shoppers drug mart...Than the same guy who didnt respond before looks up and says send it to shoppers?fine with me

Amazing staff , doctors and 2 really awesome and super cool pharmacists !!!! They all make you feel so welcome and cared about , they even remember everyone's name ! I absolutely adore this clinic .. Also I have never waited more than a half an hour .. For a methadone clinic, that's unheard of! .. They are extremely worthy of a full 5 stars !!!

This clinic has changed my life and for the most part the doctors and pharmacy staff are great. My only issues is the amount of times I have been late to work due to desk staff playing favorites. I always get there early and wait in line outside until they open, only to have the same staff member allow someone who waltzed in long after I did go ahead of me.

The front desk of the clinic and doctors are awesome but the pharmacy now has 2 new people who started this April 2023 and it has been just unbelievably horrible. I honestly don’t believe the pharmacist have any idea what they are even doing as I waited over an hour for my prescription after asking them how much longer it would take they told me 5 mins and I waited another hour. I would highly recommend NEVER getting prescriptions filled out at there pharmacy until something is done about the 2 new workers who have no clue what they are doing

***YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ***Response to Mr. David Dacosta post.Hi David,EVERYTHING in your post would be almost a 100 % exact copy of the part of my upcoming post/I didn't lose my marbles to the point that I requested switch to another pharmacy but I think now IT IS A MUST !!! I CAN'T STAND THE PHARMACY @ TRC ANYMORE !!!/.I think I have a good idea what male 'pharmacist ' you are talking about but I don't think he is in charge...I believe the person who runs that 'side show' is a female with a MAJOR ATTITUDE ISSUE...As mentioned there will be more in my post because this time I NEED TO SAY something and just like David,WARN PEOPLE so they don't have to go through this UNNECESSARY AGGRAVATION dealing with the people 'working' @ that place and especially certain individuals who should've been employed there in the first place/.And exactly as you said : THEY NEED PREVIOUS PHARMACIST: Sami Ali, BACK !!!Unfortunately that won't happened because Sami is now an owner of a pharmacy in Toronto hence he is not coming back.He was THE LAST GOOD PERSON in that facility which after being sold by Canadian government entity/CATC I assume/ to American business went downhill in a hurry and it seems that their ONE and ONLY CONCERN/just as Mr.David Dacosta has mentioned/ is milking the Canadian Goverment or Candian taxpayers aka 'us' the maximum amount of money they can.They are nothing but PRETENDERS and it's shame what they've DONE to that clinic since taking over.Thank you and thanks to Mr.David Dacosta and also Mr.David Gotswag for giving me courage and confidence to voice my opinion and writing/in very near future/ my personal opinion about TRC.Now I'm confident that it's not JUST ME and that there is a PROBLEM with this clinic that need to be addressed...preferably ASAP and that agency responsible for looking after TRC will conduct proper review.After all this isn't a coffee and donut joint but a place that unfortunately is the ONLY option given to people struggling with a deadly disorder/ I don't consider Cold Turkey Grand River Hospital detox ,which btw WON'T TAKE a person willing to quit METHADONE(sic!),an option nor the private detox and rehab facilities in ONTARIO accessible only to people with millions of dollars/the rest is fed METHADONE or SUBOXONE which only small percentage will be ever able to quit in their lifetime while other better,healthier, quicker and much,much less expensive options are available...but with METHADONE in majority of cases they have customers for life which imho is a TRAGEDY/ .Thank you.PSThe ONE STAR 'awarded' only because a/ the review message box will not open unless at least one star has been checked and b/ there is no option to give 'negative star'.TRC does not deserve even one star.xx

This clinic is the best. Joe and the pharmacist are excellent. I was really dizzy and worried about a seizure and they bent over backwards to help me. Joe right away to get me a chair since I was so dizzy and brought me a chair. He also spoke with the doctor advising Dr Elliott of what was going on. Joe held onto me while walking me to the back. The Dr just asked if I was okay and rushed me back out. Joe took me back to the car and allowed my husband to see the pharmacist. The pharmacist came directly to the car to give me my drink.The whole team are the best and the most caring team I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.Thank you very much to everyone who works there.

Absolute 100% Best clinic in the tri-cities! Highly recommend to anyone ready for positive change. They make you glad you decided to go and want to go back. The doctor is sweet, kind, patient and she is always pleasant to speak with. I have heard horror stories about other clinics, have no idea if they are true or not I have no first hand knowledge. THIS CLINIC is no horror story it is a success story. If there has been a bad experience here it must have been when there was diff staff is all I can say. I do know the current doctor was not always there. If you cannot make it there before closing and you call ahead of time they will accommodate you and send your drink to shoppers and some shoppers are open 24hrs. If you or someone you know is in need of help with addiction do not hesitate to call or visit Towards Recovery Clinic. It will be the best thing you ever did. ~There are not enough stars available for these angels~ Dr. Elliot is the most amazing angel of all! Oh and Kristy or Christy not sure how she spells it lol This girl knows her job, knows everyone, is loved by everyone, and she will notice if you miss a visit!Thank you to all the amazing staff at TRC for all you do for all of us!

I take my Girlfriend to this clinic. It is a COMPLETELY different atmosphere than the OTAC's. (Thank Goodness!!) All of the staff (Docs, Nurses, Pharmacists, receptionists, support staff etc.) try to put some dignity and respect back into clients' lives by treating them like actual, valued, PEOPLE. The clinic is on the ball"
