I stayed there in the early 90s, once when I was 9 and again when I was 13 and I was fine. Nothing bad happened to me

My teen was accepted into the ASU at Youthdale recently. The intake process was easy and smooth. The staff were extremely helpful, kind and caring. My teen was there for 3 weeks and we visited twice a week. The staff were lovely, I had contact every day with my child and nearly everyday with the psychiatrist, social worker or other staff. The facility is clean and well kept. The staff really tried to get my teen to engage in the process and programming. They baked and cooked with staff, did art therapy, school, gym, met with the psychiatrist and social worker etc. They made it clear that they encourage a team approach and that they want the best for these kids. I would recommend Youthdale to teens who are struggling.

Again if I could give 0 stars I would. This place still scares me. It was my brother who spent time here. If we could sue this place for their wrong doings I'd be glad to join in. I will never forget. My brother was either shackled or jabbed with a needle to calm him multiple times I visited in the 90s. The restraint was awful to watch, traumatic and nothing any child should have ever had to endure. My brother was never the same again and even though this program was 'meant' tho help it only mentally drove him into a deeper hole. My mom sent him here believing what they said, that it would help. She was not aware that it was only going to keep him down and even lead him to a worse life than before. I truly hope no child endures the pain, loss, and utter unimaginable procedures my brother did in the 90s. I personally still wake up from bad dreams caused by this place.

Youthdale is pretty helpful but there’s a few things that the staff working could improve on to make the environment better: By making sure they are using the right pronouns for clients. And ALWAYS trying to de-escalate to the best of their abilities before restrainingAnother thing is they should be treating both staff and clients fairly. I have seen a few times where staff were mistreated by other staff or management.Youthdale staff,Thank you for being there to support and care for my peers and me.I hope you know how much you change a life everyday! The year you’ve helped me learn new skills, discover myself, and helped me grow.Thank you for keeping me safe and helping me cope.- M and S

I stayed there for two months on asu which is literally a 30 day program where my doctor lied to keep me there for longer. I mean it was ok as in the staff were fine but most of them were just on their phones plus most of them quit while I was there. It really depends on how you act because like most mental health units they have restraints if you need them. But some of the things I saw there were pretty traumatic don’t go there unless you are forced

I can't speak to the inpatient service but the customer service over the phone I just recieved was absolutely the most kind and caring. Phoned regarding information for our daughter after being referred from our Dr. Found out we are out of their catchment but the lady I spoke with was able to give me some information for our particular area and made sure I knew I could always call back for more information if I ever needed more resources. Thank you for listening!

I was admitted to this place in 1999 when I was 14 years old. I struggled with mental health issues and childhood trauma. Dr Parez was my doctor there. She was awful. I don’t know how she is still working. When I first arrived there, I was strip searched and shoved into a very cold shower. I wasn’t allowed to wear my own clothing. I was then locked in a room alone for hours. I experienced verbal abuse, and emotional abuse daily. If I didn’t agree with staff or shared my own opinion, I was locked in a room alone. Dr Parez should not be allowed to “treat” anyone who suffers with any mental health issues. I left there worse than when I came. As a 38 year old mother of 3, I suffer from extreme anxiety when it comes to speaking to anyone who works in mental health. I have no trust for the system because of this. I believe I have PTSD from this place. I don’t know how it’s open and allowed to be running. This is a dangerous place for anyone to send their children. It brings me to tears knowing people are still sending their children there. PLEASE don’t send your children there. You are only setting them up for further issues that they will take into their adult lives.

If I could give this place a 0 star review I would. I am traumatized from the abuse I suffered here.I was sent here when I was 12 years old and nearly 8 years later It still haunts me.The first day I was there they stripped me of my clothes, denied me phone call privileges and locked me in a room until it was time for my physical exam. When the doctor was supposed to take my blood he instead injected something into me that I’m not sure what it was..maybe a sedative but I then collapsed on the floor and woke up in a different room with new clothes. Every waking moment here was terrifying. Please if you love your children do not send them here..they will be traumatized. Not to mention the staff there are verbally and emotionally abusive..some are even highly unqualified.
