Mental Torment “Touch you dirty” Morbid Filth and agony

I was just there to pick someone up. The staff didnt give me a hard time about being on the property and looking for the person. I saw a staff person look out the window at me and i was concerned she may be confrontational and ask me to leave, but she just smiled, which i returned with a smile in kind, and she went about her business. This place seems much better equipped than the mens shelter. The mens shelter is not a nice environment. While staying there, your belongings feel less than secure unless kept directly on your person. Many people prefer to sleep outdoors. I wonder if this is similar at the women's shelter.

They work with a lot of troubled people. I am amazed at what they can handle. I see some of the mentality ill people walking in and out of the shelter when waiting for my morning bus . It takes a lot of dedication to work there with people so sick.

Almost as good as a movie, bring popcorn. Seriously though, this is the last resort if you are on the streets and the shelters are full. There is drugs use galore and people are suffering from all types of mental, physical and emotional problems, but if you don't have an option, this is it. The staff are amazing, understanding and for the most part have been through the same thing in their past.Stay away from the drugs, keep to yourself and find a buddy. Trust nobody and keep your backpack close.

Very bare bones operation. Untrained staff, coffee and peanut butter kick you out at 7:30am way too early and give your bed away with no warnings. Needs much improvement but it is a warm bed to sleep in. That's it.

They do not even deserve a star.So last night i went and donated some sweaters and coats to Mary's place downtown kitchener and i was completely disgusted with the way i was treated by staff that work there. I approached the entrance and there was two old lady's outside gabbing and smoking and i greeted them and smiled i was ignored. I went to proceed past them and i heard the one old lady yell ( while only a foot away from her) are those for donations? My response was yes ma'am they are again with a smile. She sighed and said i guess i can take those, i said ok well thank you and happy holidays and she completely ignored me again. As i turn to walk away they go back to chatting and i hear them talking about what is in the bags; wondering if it was coats, pants, or what So i turned and said it is a bunch of coats and sweaters" with a smile and she just says ok... No thank you

Only gave a star because i had to. So im currently living at a plesent motel with meth heads, domestic violence going on daily, unwanted police contact because of all of this. To top it off this is funded thru the city marys place ywca and on top of that i just called to get help to get back to the shelter marys place as i was not provided bus tickets yesterday when i was there to pick up my hamper to feed my 5 kids and my wife and myself.so i called in today to get help to come in like i said i did not get bus tickets i told the staff i had no bus tickets so the staff named olga at marys place suggested i should purchase some bus tickets, i responded that if i had money i would bus us there to feed my kids and she responded that she was not going to help us and she would not be sending a cab so i said what am i supposed to do just say here and not eat and she said i guess so and hung up the phone. Im probably going to get kicked out of the shelter for this post but i thought people really needed to know the truth about this place. (Not all of the staff are like this but this particular staff has had two big issues with me already)
