Preta Academy

Me and my better half just did the free trial class, loved it! Very friendly, and welcoming owners, they made us feel comfortable and most of all safe. I highly recommend Preta Jiu Jitsu Academy to everyone! Excited to finally start my Jiu Jitsu journey.

So much more fun than I expected. I attended the trial class just to get some exercise and try something new; it was really fun. Hayden, Kirman and their students were friendly and welcoming. Their teaching methods are excellent. The the space is nice and very clean. Great experience!

First of all let me just say that Kirman and Hayden are two of the nicest people you’re ever going to meet. They are genuinely excited to see you attend class, and they are more than willing to share their techniques with you and help you out anyway they can. Hayden is also a great instructor with lots of technical knowledge and great insights into both the beginner and advance games. The location is great it’s right downtown on Ellis very close to where I work lots of parking. The bathroom situation is a bit strange as it is located in a different building, but other than that I think the place is 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend coming here to learn jujitsu!

Preta is an amazing facility with incredibly knowledgeable and kind instructors. My kids and I love training here. The gym and mats are impeccably clean (super important for grappling) and the other students who train here are very welcoming. If you are looking for an awesome workout and to learn a martial art that is ideal for self defense I would highly recommend you try out Preta Academy.

These guys are awesome! I'm a purple belt in BJJ with MMA experience and I've already learned lots from Hayden's classes. Hayden is skilled at teaching a level where beginners and experienced grapplers can improve rapidly. Class sizes are relatively small (for now!) so everyone gets lots of individual attention. I'm sure word will spread about Hayden's knowledge and passion for jiujitsu so it's a good time to get in on the ground floor!

After years of my husband asking me to try BJJ, I couldn’t have picked a better gym to do it!!!Hayden and Karmin are amazing. They are detailed and patient and make training fun!The classes are designed for all levels and great for beginners like me. Not to mention all the people training there, fantastic support and a very tight team.I would recommend to everyone. Thank you guys for everything!!!

I have been to a lot of Jiujitsu and Martial Arts clubs and by far Preta is the premiere Jiujitsu club in Kelowna. They are teaching the most up to date and new age techniques and styles. The instructors are passionate and well versed in all aspects of Jiujitsu for beginners and more advanced athletes. You can really feel that they take pride and care in every lesson. The Preta team is truly invested in your success and their attention to detail is game changing. If you are looking at improving your Jiujitsu game and taking it to the next level, then this is the club for you. Not only can they teach beginners, but I believe they are the best in Kelowna to take your tournament game to the next level. The Preta instructors are great with kids, teens, adults and women’s only classes. I know this as my whole family enjoys and takes part in their programs. It’s an amazing club with extremely talented instructors.

My son has been training jiu-jitsu for about 8 years and competes alot we met Hayden and Kirman at tournaments they reffed at then they started a comp class free for kids to help get them ready for the bigger tournaments and the training there helped him alot so when they started Preta academy my son really wanted to train there as we can really see it's not just a job for them it's passion they are true Jiu-Jitsu geeks that really care to see each individual grow and push themselves

I've been training in different gyms throughout different cities in BC for years, and Preta is one of the coolest gyms I've been in. The instruction is top notch and you can see the passion Hayden and Kirman have for jiujitsu. Hayden explains in fine detail the sequences and is always coming around answering questions and fine tuning every individual on the mat.As a female it's really important for me to train with other females especially smaller body types like myself. Kirmans woman's class is great for ladies who feel a little intimidated stepping on the mats, its always great to learn from high competitors who just love the sport.5/5 for instruction, atmosphere, and sweet music
