Restaurant Oskar

Visited once as a guest at the integrated hotel. Made reservations for later that night without an issue. Was greeted and seated to a corner spot on the terrace which was pleasantly surrounded by flora and light up decor which unfortunately was not lit during our visit. The menu was a bit limited but featured something for most everyone. It did not include child-friendly options but a separate menu may be available. The prices seemed to range from reasonable to somewhat high, but could be due to certain ingredients. We were given a complementary plate of fresh French dinner rolls and butter, and the waiter made a special accomodations for a special celebration. Our food came out relatively quickly and was all delicious. While I am not a fine diner, not have an extremely refinded palate, this was a good mix between a formal and casual dinner affair.

I was not expecting much. It is part of a (very nice) boutique hotel and during our stay there I did not see many customers. We ate there strictly out of convenience our last day, and there were zero customers when we arrived in the lobby. So, red flags. BOY were we surprised. The food was excellent (three different dishes). Fresh and well prepared. Far exceeded expectations. Very good service.

For full disclosure, I have not been to the restaurant and am only commenting on many phone and email transactions. I've been trying to arrange a special birthday celebration at the restaurant for a friends' reunion in July. I've called eight times and emailed twice to see what arrangements can be made for a birthday cake to be prepared in house or a carry in . Management has ignored my request to be contacted. The employees on the phone are helpful enough. The last woman I spoke to was extremely compassionate when I expressed my frustration with management's inability to respond to my inquiry.The person said that there currently is a transition in management and attributes that to the lack of response.I rated service as a 1 and gave both food and atmosphere 5s based on existing reviews and the restaurant's prior reputation.I'm hopeful this negative review sparks some attention but, unfortunately, not counting on it.

Lovely service and menu

Horrible experience!!!!!I had made reservations at Oskar for 9 people on May, 07, 2022 at 1:00 PM (the day before Mother’s Day). Two hours before the time of our reservation I called the restaurant to ask them a question. The person who picked up the phone proceeded to tell me that I couldn’t possibly have a reservation because they’re closed on Saturdays for lunch! I asked to speak to the manager and he told me the same thing! I asked the manager why was I able to make a reservation online for that time and day when the restaurant was closed. I even received a confirmation of my reservation!I also asked him why the restaurant’s phone message says that they are indeed open from 12:00 PM to 10 PM from Wednesday to Saturday, but he said that there’s been a mistake and they’ll only be opening for lunch in about a month! I asked him what I should do with the people I had invited to lunch (as it was supposed to be a Mother’s Day celebration) and he just hung up on me!!!! I couldn’t believe it!!!!Not only the restaurant had confirmed my reservation, and their answering machine indicated that they should be open, the restaurant’s manager hung up on me! I couldn’t believe how anyone could act so unprofessionally! I proceeded to call the Hotel St. Sulpice, where the restaurant is located, and told the lady at the front desk what had just transpired. She apologized for the manager’s behaviour and spent 10 minutes to try to make us a reservation at another restaurant, but after 2 years of COVID everywhere was completely booked. After 10 minutes she said that she can’t spend any more time helping me as she’s busy, so she left me to fend for myself and my guests !They don’t deserve anyone’s business, not the restaurant Oskar because of how rude the manager was (hanging up in a client-I still can’t get over that) when clearly it was his fault for not changing the dates for their online reservations and also their phone message, and even the hotel as they failed to accommodate us even though the situation was solely the management’s fault for which they’re responsible as the restaurant is part of the Hotel St. Sulpice.A byproduct of the Internet is that businesses have become e more responsible as bad reviews can really hurt them. I always like to support businesses who are well deserving and care about their clients. This establishment clearly doesn’t!

Looked for a restaurant after walking thru Notre-Dame and Oskar was a block away located in a hotel. Restaurant has a nice patio where four women shared a few items and nice bottle of white wine. Food was delicious and staff was attentive and friendly. We would come back!

The food was great, the only problem was that they don’t have kid’s menu.

Is this a joke? This restaurant served us food from the frozen section at IGA. I ordered the “Matcha Chicken with Mango Rice” and the mango tasted like it was taken directly out of a frozen fruit bag. The rice was stale and drenched in Canola oil and I could barely swallow the chicken it was so dry. I have a feeling this restaurant doesn’t have a license to serve food :| Very strange experience. I recommend to anyone looking for a Twilight Zone experience! JK! Never go here!!

To start of I was looking for a restaurant with a fondant au chocolat, so I found this place. Now the fondant was really excellent. Also nice and warm service. Definitely 5 stars for that alone too. Only thing that was a bit disappointing was the main meal, the burger and fries. A small burger with well fried but cheap frozen fries. The taste was good at least.

We only had breakfast here as part of the stay in the same hotel (back in June 2022). Well, quality was basic and any ad-hoc orders were slow (I suppose they had a single cook in the mornings). The worst breakfast of our Canadian trip unfortunately. We didn't come here for dinner.
