Hamilton Airport Security

The John Munro Airport is located in Hamilton and is a Westjet and Swoop hub. This is a painless alternative to Pearson. The facility is well maintained. The people are professional and friendly. If you are in Southwestern Ontario you really should consider using this airport and these carriers. It tries too hard to be a big time airport but JFK it ain't...and that is just fine by me.

I followed the liquid contents sizing in one plastic bag and marked the contents but, due to the way it was situated in my carry-on, I had to remove the contents and repack in a bag supplied by the official after screening. I was not trying to smuggle anything, nor did I understand that lipstick was a liquid?? Upon returning via Abbotsford airport, I was questioned if I had liquids and was requested to remove the plastic bag from my carry-on. I complied and had no problems! The problem at Hamilton was that the items I was requested to place in the bag provided did not fit and therefore I had to hand over a few items. The official firstly suggested that I could put some items in the stowed baggage which I had already checked! Perhaps the screening/packing guidlines/procedures could be more clearly posted as the official was abrupt and clearly suspicious of my packing. I had not seen any directives that stipulated: 1) that lipstick is a liquid, 2) that cream (small, clear container) is a liquid and 3) where to pack the bag of liquids.I am only asking for some continuity rather than having been treated as a smuggler!Beth Clarke, Newmarket.

Really?? I have to take off my sweater? Ok. Whatever you say. Other than that, it was just another security check. Nothing special.
