Active Tech Electronics

Tried to support local and come out from Kanata to this place. Needed a few hundred dollars in parts. The clerk ignored me standing at the cash for 20 minutes. Eventually I got tired of waiting and left.Seemed like he was not happy. It's too bad, but next time it'll be online.

I try to shop local for the expertise and flexibility that small business provide. Unfortunately, not all local businesses can get that right. I came in with exact specs for some switches. They gave me switches. Installed them. Not the right switches. Order from mouser - get right switches and less expensive. I head back to also grab some other supplies. I can’t find my receipt but I only opened one pack. So I tell the guy what happened and he said I need a receipt. I said I was looking to exchange (getting other stuff). Was told that even if they wanted to, the computer wouldn’t let them. So to amazon/mouser from now on. Hope it was worth the $6.

Came into this store with my girlfriend, we didn't get any help from the salesperson which was fine, we found what we were looking for, brought it to the cash, stood at the cash register while the clerk used the computer for 8 minutes, he then walked over to some random people who were there after we arrived and brought them over and served them first. We waited another 10 minutes or so before leaving. I don't know if its because we are younger (early twenties) that he didn't feel we warranted service, but he helped every other person that came in after us and repeatedly ignored us when we signaled that we needed assistance and had questions regarding some Raspberry PI HATs.Prices weren't listed on about a quarter of the products.In short: We drove across the city to shop here, were ignored when we were in the store and were literally unable to purchase anything even when we were at the cash register.I purchased from buyapi and picked it up at their warehouse locally instead.

I needed a specific component and since I was driving an hour round trip and the cost of the gas burned was going to be several times the price of the component, I called to ensure they had the component in stock. We have lots of them and other similar components." I show up and they not only didn't have the component in stock

I wanted to share the over the top service we have experienced with Steve @ the Ottawa location ~ a refreshing level of service ~ he has twice met us near our location with product we have purchased but didn't have time to get to the store to pick up ~It means so much

Excellent customer service. Was looking for some LEDs, wire, and a battery pack. Was in and out in 5 minutes. The gentleman behind the counter was patient and very informative, as I know nothing about electronics and therefore had to ask a lot of asinine questions. We will certainly be coming back! Thank you Active Tech Electronics!

Staff is super friendly and helpful. People are saying it's more expensive than buying stuff off the internet, like that is some kind of revelation. Of course it's more expensive it's a real store you can go into and ask questions to real employees. They had everything I needed at what I thought was a fair price and even directed me to home Depot to purchase fan mounting hardware because the hardware they sell came in a quantity to large to justify buying it. Great place.

The staff is really helpful and quite knowledgeable. In some cases they step above and beyond to try and help a customer. I can't say anything wrong about the staff and their efforts. Customer service is fantastic and that is one of the reasons I keep going back despite...My gripe is with some of the parts and stock for micro-controllers like the Arduino and Raspberry Pi that have been brought in by head office. I hope that the procurement department will get it together, they really need to be more diligent in their ordering process.I have bought Atmel Chips for the Arduino that don't work with the Arduino IDE, but are advertised to do so at Active. I've bought breadboard power supplies that have pins that do not line up with the holes on the bread board and breakout boards that are labeled in a less user friendly manner.My gripes are not huge problems, but it takes away from what a fantastic service the staff at the Ottawa store are providing. This is an example of how corporate is happy to through retail staff under the bus.

Fantastic quality products and excellent advice. I think their prices are more or less on par with their local competitors (that being said I can only think of one other local store that is really comparable).I think most people who have shopped here can at least agree that in terms of pricing, knowledgeability of staff and service; Active blows big names like Best Buy or Future Shop out of the water.Also, props to Coady, it seems like every time I come in he's there. He knows the products and a great deal about their various applications. He's one of those people who can help you riddle out a problem just by being part of the conversation. He is definitely one of the many reasons that I continue to shop at Active.

They carry imany tems that other local stores do not. I got all the advice I needed to make an informed purchase. It helped that I called in advance and also brought a part I needed to match. I would not have known what to get if buying online so I'm glad for well-stocked brick-and-mortar stores like this one, with their knowledgeable staff.
