US Customs and Border Protection- Sumas Port of Entry

Compared to coming home the crossing into the us is a pleasant happy experience, nice people, they ask questions politely, wish you a wonderful day, and a safe trip. And a welcome to the us!

Not always the best politeness from all the staff, but sometime friendly service and quick pass through. Could use better line-up systems and warning: Nexus closes at 8pm if you're coming to Canada late.

Everyone knows the biggest pain about crossing borders is the people who control them. Sometimes, we get lucky and have interactions with CBP officers that do their jobs professionally. Unfortunately, this location is one of the worst I've ever experienced. Anyone knows who crosses the border frequently that the lines back up, and sometimes the maps reroute you to other crossings. Last weekend, I ran to Vancouver to pick up some clothes I'd ordered the week before. Because I had errands to run in Bellingham, I drove over the I-5 crossing and then the Sumas crossing going home since I live in Deming. The grey-bearded agent immediately became condescending and unprofessional. He had an accusatory tone and made me feel like I'd done something wrong because I didn't go home the way I came in. After he made several power-hungry comments and questions, I eventually asked why my crossing the border at a different spot was an issue. Of course, he smirked and then selected me for a random screening."Being retired from the Navy

professional, friendly, and efficient. was denied entry first time because I missed one important doc. Officer explained what I needed to do nicely and was able to enter after getting the status sorted out online within 20min. All officers I met were great - would highly recommend.

Hard to give a perfect 5 star but crossing into the US the border guards are more friendlier than before. Just answer all questions truthfully and your credibility level is great. Maintain eye contact and you’ll be fine. Don’t have any past violations and it will go smooth.

Wife and I decided to take a weekend trip to get a little away us" time. We selected Abbotsford simply because we'd never been and liked some of the regional day hikes and wineries. The border agent was an absolute jerk with some serious power issues. Completely harassed us then sent us into the office for further questions because it was unfathomable that we would be going to Abbotsford for anything other than bad intentions. The agent at the counter grabbed our passports and questioned us and told us to have a seat. Then proceeded to joke around with the female agent beside him for 10 minutes before signaling us to come back up and let us go. Little men with too much power. Go through Lynden instead

2/4 lanes are closed and we've been waiting for two hours. We have a 3 hour drive ahead of us. Please open lanes more proactively!

Used this crossing for a short trip to Seattle last weekend, based on reviews here.Guards were very professional, not intimidating, and treated me with respect. Have your documents ready and be able to answer basic questions about your travel plans, and everything will go smoothly.Only 3 cars were in front of me, and the process took no more than 10 minutes.

Driving across the border as Aussies we had to go inside to scan our prints and take our pictures. The officers were a little intimidating but were ultimately helpful and efficient and even gave us a tip of a scenic route to take, which we very much appreciated! Very quick and easy crossing otherwise.

Reviews and some stories always make me nervous I will be harassed and treated like a criminal, but the guy that checked us through Canada into USA at 12:30am was friendly and respectful and did his job well.Only issue is we turned and saw only bus or car lane not commercial driver lane, so turned around in little parking lot and found the commercial lane was completely separate.
