Sensational Sound

My honest review of Sensational Sound... avoid them if you can. They aren’t true to their word and don’t care about customer service.We asked for a refund from 3:00-5:30pm. Because there really wasn’t any music being played at that time. (aside from the 30 seconds it took for us to walk down the isle). No music for guests being seated, because he was 45minutes late. And no music during cocktail hour.I thought this was reasonable. It took them a couple weeks to get back to me (they rarely respond to their email) but finally responded to my voicemail. Carlos was really professional on the phone and assured me that I would get a refund by the end of the week. I was really impressed. But that was the last time I heard from him. I’ve attempted to contact him multiple times through email and voicemails but have gotten no where. It’s been about 3 weeks since our last phone call. 7 weeks since our wedding. I am beyond disappointed with their service. They had their chance to make it right and have chosen not to.EDIT:After months he finally got back to me. He told me there had been a tragedy in the family and that is why he didn’t respond. Understandable! He reassured me again that he would send a cheque in the mail the following month. I requested an email when he would send the cheque out so I could anticipate it’s arrival.When the cheque arrived I planned to removed this review and make it right.Months passed again and nothing. I feel like I’ve been jerked around long enough. He’s not true to his word. You’re better of finding another DJ.The whole story at the wedding is below:We had them at our social and were very happy with both DJ’s and the music/service that they provided. Because of that positive experience, we kept them for our wedding but now I wish we didn’t.On our wedding day, our wedding planner called our DJ/Sensational Sound numerous times to check on where he was and what time he was arriving as the ceremony was commencing at 4:00 pm and he had not arrived to set up his equipment by the agreed upon 3:00 pm time for his services to begin (and that we were being charged for). At 3:30 pm the wedding party was heading over to the ceremony site and the DJ had still not arrived. Music was supposed to be playing while guests arrived and were seated. When he did show up (approx. 3:45 pm), he did not know where he was to set up; told us he would need to get his equipment over to the outdoor ceremony site and so we held up a golf cart which was to take the bride and her parents to the ceremony site so that the DJ’s equipment could be loaded and transported via the golf cart – only to have the DJdisappear on us and transport the equipment in his own vehicle over to the ceremony site (without telling us that he no longer needed the golf cart as transportation). The resort experienced some issues with getting power to the DJ’s laptop. Not the DJs fault, but had the DJ arrived on schedule we could have had it figured out. Instead, the ceremony didn’t start till at least 4:15 pm. It was amateur hour.I understand that things happen and maybe he had a good reason for being late, but still don’t believe I should be charged for missed time.There was no music playing during cocktail hour and when the guests were finding their tables. The wedding planner commented that in her interactions with the DJ she thought he was slow to comprehend what she was asking of him and she wondered if he was under the influence. He also had with him another individual (female) who sat with him the whole night with sunglasses on (in a dark room...) her arms crossed and a scowl on her face. Many guests in attendance commented on this as this individual did not look happy to be there. We doubt she was an employee as we confirmed there would only be one DJ that night.We gave the DJ a list of music to play, which he didn’t. He played your typical social music, but I can’t complain about that too much because people were up and dancing.

Don't use these people, I asked for certain music to played at my wedding anniversary, and the person Carlos sent had never played a wedding reception at all. I supplied some music and one of our guest had to go and get more.. Carlos came to meet with us, and I was told he would not charge us the balance owing, and yet the very next morning I was charged and still waiting on my refund.

Coming from Minneapolis to celebrate the marriage of good friends, Sensational Sound DJ'ed the event without much zest. Songs were not mixed, they butted against each other--like switching songs by grabbing the aux cable--and the songs themselves were less something to dance to and more something to go up an elevator.The main reason this is 2 stars rather than 1 is that the bpm remained above 90 and the DJ at least took requests between his several smoke breaks.I would recommend a spotify playlist on a bluetooth speaker before hiring Sensational Sound.

Horrible experience! If I could give a zero rating I would. Dj showed up late the day of our wedding, I (the bride) arrived before him, he was drinking our booze the entire night without asking, constantly outside smoking and on his phone he asked to buy alcohol off of us at the end of the night because he had a party to go to. He totally ruined all of our dances and song choices with the wrong versions of almost everything we asked for. Wasn't prepared at all it seemed, I had to be up there telling him when to play our first dances. Told the owner about what happened and asked for a refund of some sort, nothing was done, barely an apology was given. This dj ruined the music aspect of our wedding and stressed me to the max on the most important day. I would never recommend them, thanks for nothing sensational sound.

We acquired sensational sound through our wedding venue. They corresponded with the company for us so we weren't sure what to expect although we were able to specify our music preferences by filling out a form. The dj was friendly and did a great job. His booth was surrounded by a huge sensational sound logo which considering the classy venue and price we paid stuck out like a sore thumb and was not necessary.

We had such a great experience with Sensational Sound for our wedding. Carlos was so accommodating - found us a DJ available 4 weeks before our wedding and really saved the day. Chris was our DJ and he was fabulous. The dance floor was energized all night; we had the best party going. He did great with all our timing requirements and there are no complaints. I loved all the music he played - really paid attention to my notes on the music sheet. Definitely recommend Sensational Sound for anyone!!

The staff at Sensational Sound are simply AMAZING! Our original DJ that we had booked months prior cancelled on us extremely last minute (2 days before the wedding to be exact) and they went out of their way to make sure we were taken cared of in terms of music for our big day/night. On 2 days notice they not only pulled through but made our night one to remember. Tony (our DJ for the evening) made sure everyone was having a good time and got everyone on the dance floor. Can't say it enough THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Plays some good music, but I hate that he switches songs right in the middle of a good song. He also had a good streak of songs going that had the party going and then completely ruined it by switching genres.

Sensational Sound was recommended to me by my wedding venue. Carlos was very pleasant to deal with during the planning stages as well as on the night of the wedding. We told him what type of music we wanted to hear and which genres to avoid. There were no surprises as he stuck to the plan. Carlos was accommodating to guest request and was able to read the crowd and keep the party going throughout the night. Overall, I had a great experience working with Sensational Sound and would recommend booking with them for any special event.
