Nord Lyon

I absolutely loveeee Nord Lyon. This french patisserie and boulangerie serves some authentic European stuff. It has been such a relief to finally find the best croissants in the city . I moved here from Belgium and Nord lyon has been a blessing! You’ll find the best choux pastries here. I keep visiting them to enjoy a Paris brest, mille feuille their profiteroles and a coffee. Can’t wait to check out their brunch soon!

We’ve popped by Nord Lyon a few times when running errands in the neighbourhood. They make very good coffee (the cappuccino is particularly good) so we often just linger over ours while ogling the various pastries.On our most recent visit we decided to have a “light” lunch - coffees with a freshly made Croque Monsieur (with turkey as opposed to ham) as well as a reheated ham & cheese croissant.The ham & cheese croissant reheated beautifully, which makes us all the more determined to try their fresh croissants soon.The Croque Monsieur was a bit of a mixed blessing. The béchamel sauce was superb, and the cheese was delicious - particularly the caramelized bits at the bottom. But there was something about the bread that just didn’t work for us. It was certainly fresh, but the flavour and texture didn’t pair well with the béchamel and cheese - at least not to our taste.But at $35 (tax and tip included) this was a very tasty light lunch. We look forward to our next visit. Recommended.Other treats:Cortado & Latte: some of the best in the city!The lemon tart: amazing! Actually tart, with a nice sweet finish, a beautiful glazed meringue on incredible dense pastry.Apple tart: excellent apples, a slightly crispy, buttery pastry, good quality almonds, and made delicately sweet with a glaze.Strawberry jam croissant: nice, but we prefer a regular one with jam on the sidePistachio Bread: a bit dry at first, but it’s great dipped into your coffee!

We had the pleasure to enjoy a beautiful brunch buffet at Nord Lyon for the first time this weekend. It was a very lovely experience. They delicious array of very tasty sweet and savoury options. The waffle was a fan fave. We already cannot wait to return for another exceptional brunch date:)

One of my favourite bakeries. There is always a fresh variety of pastries available and the ones I’ve tried were all delicious. I forget what it was called but recently tried the spinach roll I think and I devoured in seconds. It was so good m.

Definitely a must-try and must-frequent place :) The fancy look doesnt mean hyped price. Most of their meticulously crafted cakes are $5, some are a bit higher (besides the ingredents, i think the level of techniques and number of steps required in constructing the cake may well explain each’s price). Typically french tastes with great balance and creative combination of ingredients. Just too good to ignore. I found this as a rare gem in the dessert world, as in contrary to the other overly sweetened desserts that seems to dominate the common North American market. I didnt like their macarons much but its not Nord Lyon’s fault, I generally dont like macarons anyways even La Durée’s, probably due to the overwhelmed amount of sugar, just wanted to give it a try.

The chocolate almond croissant was so delicious! I’d definitely go back for more later and to try out their other desserts.Ham and cheese sandwich on a baguette and veggie pizza were nice. Friendly staff and great location in Queen West.

This place might just become my new favourite bakery and I've tried black bird and butter baker. Got a couple croissants to go, ham and cheese, chocolate and pistachio. Prices might be higher than your average bakery? My 3 croissants came out to be 20. The layers on the croissants looked incredible. I heated them up in the oven before eating and that really did them justice and my god the ham and cheese was good. Overall I would happily return for more!

Some of the best croissants I’ve had downtown Toronto! Their pastries were crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I loved the strawberry jam filled croissant and the chocolate croissant! There was a lot of pistachio flakes on the pistachio croissant which was really great. We went around 5pm and they still had a great variety of choices for us to choose from which I loved. Will definitely go back!
