We have used the Handymam for extensive renovations on our 106 year old home in the Carlingwood area of Ottawa. Her work was exemplary and thrives in her attention to detail. She works very hard and her prices are very reasonable. Her work on our home included drywall, installation of doors, painting, custom cabinet making, built an oak mantel for our fireplace, installation of cedar closets, sanded and finished or hardwood floors etc. She can handle any task and revels in the challenge. She is professional and a joy to work with. Her personality is friendly and she loves to joke. Her honesty is beyond dispute. When she gives you a quote you know that is the amount you will pay and you don't get nickeled and dimed like some other handy men / contractors. Janines attention to detail with fine carpentry is amazing. She built a custom ledge on top of a half wall. The ledge was only drywall before. It was always chipping. The work she has done in her own home shows true talent. She built out window frames when she redid walls. You would never know that they were not the original trim in the old house.I have learned so much from Janine. She has taught me to paint, build shelves, how to hang blinds, shingle a roof, insulate attic (not fun!), install wood flooring, tile, lay carpet (stretch tool was tough), remove stippled ceilings (also not fun), and what a Robertson screwdriver is (square one).Janine has also made many amazing things for my kids. My daughter loves her framed princess bed canopy. She took an old picture frame and made it into a box. We also love her cedar balance beam in back yard to practice her gymnastics. Not only has she taught me many things, she is always willing to teach my kids some hands on skills that they will use forever.

Janine renovated my house from top to bottom, inside and out. She did it all – wore the toolbelt and did the contracting with plumbers, electricians and inspectors. She offered ideas that turned out to be great, and made my house gorgeous! It took 5 months of very hard work, and the results are very impressive!
