My first experience at Steve's was bringing a potential used vehicle purchase in for an inspection. While it drove well and had an outward appearance of being a very clean car, they identified underlying issues that would have been very costly to repair. Steve warned me off of buying it, telling me that I'd basically be buying it twice. They could have easily taken me for thousands of dollars, and didn't. Been bringing my vehicle there ever since. Straight shooter, through and through.

I dropped my vehicle off to get my transmission changed/looked at and told me it would be 3 weeks till they can look at it/repair. The guy named Matt on the phone was being very argumentative after finding out what was going on. Called back after 3 weeks and now its going to be another 3 weeks and they havent even taken a look at it. Very unprofessional

It was my first time going to this garage but the reviews were very good so I decided to give them a try. They did exactly what I asked for and the price was very good. They were very knowledgeable about my car and gave me some good tips. I will certainly be returning and recommend to my friends and family

Been using this auto service for 12 years. They are knowledgeable and reliable. Highly recommend.

Disagree with a few of these reviews, I have found Steve as the opposite of telling me I need more work done on my truck than necessary. This is the reason why I stuck with Steve as his shop has demonstrated honesty when telling me what needs to be done on my truck and what can be done later. Had a few times where the cost of repair was less then the quote, which I will always prefer over the opposite. People seem to forget that mechanics shops are businesses and not a charity, as a local shop they may not be the cheapest in Greater Victoria, however I have found the value worthwhile. Will continue to get my truck serviced there.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this auto shop and I was very impressed with the friendly helpful staff. Most importantly, they squeezed us into their busy schedule and got our SUV back on track with good advice for our mountain trip. I would highly recommend this auto shop to anyone looking for quality service.And, if you are into miniature & hotwheels cars they have a great little collection.

Someone backed into us on the ferry and we wanted to make sure there was no damage before carrying on with our trip. Steve assessed our vehicle, checked the oil and under the hood for no charge and assured us there was no damage. Fantastic quick service, really appreciate the help and peace of mind!

Stopped by very shortly after arriving in Sydney, my dad was worried about our alternator after he changed our battery in Salmon Arm, and a local's recommendation guided us here. Steve himself did the diagnosis, and it took less than 5 minutes. The other staff were also friendly, and we were pretty much in and out without having to schedule an appointment - I can see why he came highly recommended, and share those sentiments.

I was referred to Steve's Service from a family member that had heard good things about this mechanic shop but had never taken their car in.I took an older car in that I was wanting to get some minor repairs done on before selling it. I had received a quote (est $350-450) and approved them to go ahead with the work.Imagine my surprise when I went to go and pick my car up and the bill was over $1100. Apparently they had noticed another issue and went ahead with completing the work without my consent. I was flabbergasted and upset. It was not in my budget to get that work done and Steve even made a comment that the only way he wouldn't have advised getting that work done is if I was selling the vehicle. Which I was. Which he would have known had he called me to let me know before spending my money without my permission.I've never experienced that issue before, or after, since dealing with Steve.In all fairness the work done was satisfactory however I can't believe he spent my money like that and felt it was no big deal.If you're looking for a reliable and honest mechanic in Sidney and area then I would 100% recommend you take your business, and hard earned money, over to Gurtons Garage near Roost.

Went to get my truck fixed as front brake was causing a shimmy and pulling to the left. It was my first visit to Steve’s Service and I was given an honest direct quote which was exactly what was required. Like the previous review... business repairing vehicles are not charity’s and I take great pleasure paying for a job well done and will enthusiastically recommend this business as was done for me by a young man working at home hardware yesterday.
