Smart Serve Ontario

Absolutely terrible course! There is no place to get assistance either on the site or by phone. I was trying to renew my S.S. certificate at the reduced price, couldn't find where or how to do that, so had to pay full price. I have many unanswered questions, largely because of how the information was presented and how the questions were asked. Also you no longer receive a card showing you are certified. It is up to you to have a piece paper with you to prove certification. For $44.95 the least you could do is issue a card. ( Not everyone has a smart phone to download the information on.) You really need to start over if you want to continue giving this course online. I passed the course on my first attempt only because of the many people who had taken the course already, (some failing multiple times) giving me invaluable advice on the pitfalls of the course. I would suggest to anyone thinking of taking the course to get in touch with someone who has completed it already for extra assistance, because you aren't going to get any help from this site.

This course is way too detailed and should be split into 3 different types of certification such as Bartenders, Licences, Retail Sales. No wonder many are not renewing their Smart Serve Certificate. The training modules path could use improvement. Some areas flow and others I had to close the window and select the next module/chapter. It should just flow on completion of that lesson.

Good course, lots of information to learn. Videos are actually well thought out. Loved that you could use the text to voice option so that the computer read the audio to you while you read the words. Which is great for people with different learning abilities. However they don't have that option for the finial test!

I did take advantage of the slow pace one can use to totally absorb the information. I do think some of the questions are not totally clear especially when answering multiple answer questions Some are way to close to make a proper final decision. But all in all the hardest part was getting a picture of either my passport or dribvers licence. Would have been so much easier to photo copy and send email. Thanks for all the prep work It was very well put together and with taking time made exam easier

As an educator of 45 years, I was so impressed with the approach taken to the Smart Serve training. All modules were informative, had visuals as well as text, and were applied to real world scenarios. Hi Smart Serve Ontario Team. It was wonderful opportunity to go through the Smart Serve Ontario course. Every module have been developed very well. In addition, it would have be wonderful to have one more pre-test module with 100 questions total in order to prepare for the final test. I feel that the final test should have had similar visual videos from the modules and Yes/NO questions too. Overall I had a great experience.Thanks!

The course is not hard to navigate. It has a lot of good learning materials and is very long and in depth. I can see how a person that only sells liquor at a grocery store or similar would be overwhelmed.One technical issue was that I had to use my laptop screen it has the camera. I believe you can’t have two monitors going and I always use my external screen because I don’t see that well.I also have a terrible memory and at 65 it is getting worse. For the last couple days I studied most of the facts from the web, some practice tests I found. This helped me to understand and remember the course material a lot better and should be offered pre course. They were not the exact course test but so much can be learned ahead of the real course and isn’t that the whole idea of this material and test, learning and retention of knowledge.The test its self goes by fast maybe 15 minutes and you get your score and feedback on the questions you got wrong at completion.I feel lucky I passed, just barely on the first try. Now I am good for 5 years unlike my old permanent certificate.

It was a great experience to review my smart serve. Everything is completely explained and you have plenty of time to complete your tasks on your own time. I completed mine on my phone with no trouble when I wanted to, I didn’t have to wait. I completed it at 1:14am. Thanx!

The course itself uploaded well to my laptop. I really appreciated having the transcript available for the videos —it saved me a lot of time.I also liked having the option of repeating a portion of the course if I needed to.The problems arose with the verification process for the exam.Whatever program you used to connect with my camera only worked for the first photograph. I was repeatedly unable to take a picture of my I.D.: the camera stopped functioning. I finally switched devices and then the camera reversed itself for the ID photo. I had to reach around behind the device with my I.D. to get the picture. At least I was able to take the photo that time and finally do my exam.As this happened with two separate devices, each time with the second photo, the one of my I.D., it's probably a malfunction at your end.

This course is ridiculous! I am a server/bartender and am not a cashier or do I ever plan on having or attending a tailgate party.So much information I did not need to add to the amount of info I needed to retain to take this test. If you are going as far as producing videos and animations for it. You should also have bothered to tailor the test to each part of the industry and not waste everyone's time with info and test questions that do not apply to them. Choose a category and test for each. Also, I took this course and test many years ago and was told that I was certified for life at the time. Seems you have changed your mind and decided to collect more money from people who thought they would not have to do this again. Where does this money go?What does Smart Serve do besides testing? Are you profiting from these tests charges? Do you somehow supply services to the people taking the tests? I've never benefited or had any contact in any way from Smart Serve in 20 years until now.I'd love some information on those points from you.
