Beautiful scenery! We loved our site. Downside is the noise from traffic on the highway. If you’re tenting you’ll want a site away from the highway! The washrooms were clean but the showers were not. Disappointed in the service from the park ranger, was difficult to track them down to purchase firewood and shower tokens. The garbage bins were also overflowing the entire 3 days we were there.

A quaint little campground very close to downtown Canmore. Medium sized campsite with a fair bit of distance between your neighbours. Shower and flush toilets are a nice addition, though only at the entrance. A garbage bin is also way at the front. We enjoyed the campground. Very shady and cool campsites with a lot of nature surrounding. Will stay again.

All the comments about the loud noise from the highway are true for this campground. No matter which campsite you get, you are certain to hear the 16-wheleers and RVs wheezing by. However, the spots by the river are absolutely marvelous. Some of the sites are a tight squeeze especially if you have a trailer or anything bigger than a camper van. Your maneuvering skills will be thoroughly tested.

What a beautiful view of the Bow River! The trees were super tall and the campsites were very nicely maintained. We went camping in our tent and the spaces are quite large. The camp ranger was very kind and helpful. Accessible often for all needs. Ice and firewood were available on site. Nice bathrooms at the entrance and showers. Outhouses through the rest of the campsites.7 minute drive from Canmore.⚠️ Caution for parents with young children: Fast moving waterways can be quite dangerous and the water temperatures are very cold, always.

Would not recommend this campsite. Only 2 showers working even though you had to pay to use them. Toilets were disgusting. Advertised utilities non existent. Other campers making a lot of noise at 2a.m no one to to enforce rules. Rubbish bins overflowing. Images and adverts seen online when booking campsite falsely advertised.

Of the three Campgrounds we visited (Tunnel Mountain II, Lake Louise harder sided and this), Bow River was our favorite atmosphere. RVs are parked in a wooded area adjacent the river, some with direct river views. Campsites aren’t too close, but close enough to feel a sense of community. By comparison, Tunnel Mtn II felt much like a parking lot (mostly pavement, few trees) and Lake Louise hard sided was so secluded you barely saw neighbors and could be a 20min walk from the shower facilities.Facilities at Bow River are okay - but sites have electric and water.

This is a decent enjoyable campground. The park ranger was very helpful and friendly. My only complaint is no one seems to enforce the rules here especially cleaning up your site, removing bear attractants etc. Our neighbours (walk-in tent Site 5 - May 21, 2023) left their stuff, used bbq, all their left over food, watermelon rinds (and more) outside and didn’t bother putting them away. This is a serious offence especially in a bear country. Alberta Parks, how do you handle this?

Bow River Campground
Nice campground. 30amp, water, trash disposal, dump at nearby visitor center, showers, friendly staff. It is what it is a provincial park between the river and freeway, so it is noisy. Some sites are big rig friendly. Very convenient to Canmore and Banff via road or bike path.
