Absolutely couldn’t have picked a better school. When finding out about my sons hearing late 31/2 years old we were so overwhelmed on the next step from being a stay at home mom to potentially him going to school full-time. But I’m so glad I did make that step and I found CHSC. Everyone of the staff members are amazing , caring , and are there for the right reasons. It’s not just a job to them they truly love the kids. This school has changed my sons life and I’ll be forever grateful for what they have done for my son and also the people who I have met.

Excellent professional education in oral language for hard of hearing and deaf children and babies. Offers incredible family support and guidance. Great staff.

Very happy with the Private Speech and Language program offered at this center. We have a 2-year-old with some speech delay, andKonika was very helpful and gave useful guidance for what to do. They offer both in-person and virtual sessions, which is great because we live far away from the centre.

A bit of a biased review based on just one of their services, but my non-deaf child was on a wait list for daycare for several months, promised a spot, then told at the door by the principal on his first day that they had given his space to two children with hearing impairment who needed it more. They did not give any forewarning. She will obviously have no repercussions because the demand is so high in Vancouver, but it was a very disappointing sight to see.

Incredible team of dedicated and passionate professionals that was a game changer for our son's preschool experience in so many good ways - even though he is having moderately severe hearing loss, he was able to learn English as a second language and actively uses it now in his everyday preschool life. I would definitely recommend this unique preschool experience to every parent who want to put an emphasizes on their child's (with hearing loss, speech delay) spoken language development. I can't thank enough to the whole team of CHSC!

We have been incredibly happy with the level of care that our hearing/visually impaired daughter has received while attending two years of preschool at CHSC. She started as one of the youngest children in her class as a December baby and has thrived, made incredible friendships and grown significantly both socially and academically. Anyone who is looking for experienced and thorough care and education for a hearing impaired child should seriously consider CHSC. Our little one was diagnosed of Hard of hearing after birth, and 3 months later we were enrolled into the First Words program of the CHSC; The teachers and staff we have worked with are truly professionals, they know and have resources to support kids with Hard of hearing and the families, and they have been in the community for 60 years, with countless successful stories and experiences. Now we see our little one growing up through baby, toddler and now preschooler in the CHSC, the language skills, listening skills and most importantly, the ability to be self-advocacy that our little one has, makes us so much relieved, and we have less concerns of being mainstreamed into the public school system later.We highly recommend this school to the families who have kids with language delays and hard of hearing, because this is the place where your child will be well supported and trained, and your child will feel grateful for this journey when they look back.

As a teacher, I recently went to The Children's Hearing & Speech Centre to visit and observe for the day. I was amazed at several aspects. Firstly, the teachers and early education assistants were truly happy to be there and passionate about their work. They did an incredible job of redirecting children when needed and the amount of vocabulary they introduced to the kids was outstanding. Two examples stand out to me the most. In the morning, one of the staff noticed the outdoor thermometer had fallen off the window and she used this as an opportunity to not only teach the words surrounding this tool but to also ask a young child for help. Nothing makes me more thrilled than when I see a child get the chance to contribute and feel successful. I won't get into too much detail but I think the preschooler now knows words like suction cup

Amazing teachers of Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Speech-Language Pathologists, ECEs, Audiologist and Staff. They are brilliant, professional, experienced, loving, and enthusiastic. My kid grows up happily and learns crucial skills at the critical developmental stage, which lays a solid foundation for the future success. Highly recommend you consider sending your kids to CHSC!
