My mother passed away this past weekend. She had been at Garry Armstrong for just over a year. Having Dementia she was on the third floor..the staff was kind and caring, sometimes having to put up with a very difficult patient. Hats off to the work you do..

My mother has received excellent care from kind, well trained staff since her admittance in 2011. The incident of a rogue employee punching a resident was an extreme anomaly and should not be used to judge this first rate long term care home.

My father has been a resident for approx 2-3 years. On three different occasion, i had to warn employees not to be rough with my father. Important to note that some employees are super and have at heart the well being of the residents. Others are totally clueless of what they are doing. For example, encouraging resident to endanger himself. My father was given the wrong medication and had a bad reaction. Definitely a lack of quality in human ressources. Also, there is a big lack of communication between management and employees. Management have their head in the sand and have no pulse of what is truly going on in the home. And, Employees complain of poor working conditions and bad management. Should you have a family member residing there, ensure to be present and be aware of care received.

All of the staff on the third floor locked ward are the most amazing caregivers. Even though they deal every day with demanding and unpredictable clients, they maintain a sense of humour and kindness. In our mother’s last days, they extended the same caring kindness to us, her family. Thank you !

I would have initially given a top rating and generally was impressed. But, after over 10 years of weekly volunteering, when I was sitting with my mother for hours on 3 occasions as she was dying, I was not even offered a glass of water. After she died, and while she was still in the room, I was told I had to empty it. I had intended to continue volunteering, but could not after such treatment. The floor did had different staff than usual at the time, so I hope this doesn't happen to others.

How in the heck do you guy get a 3 stars after what came down in the past week? Abuse of helderly, failing to comply to a hivernèrent inspector? This place should be shut down, and have a full staff revamp. You are a disgrace to the health care community. Management is where the problem reside, they are not doing what they are supposed to do, turning a blind eye on problems and issues doesn't fix anything.

My mother was there for 3 years, in that time she suffered two falls with concussions, neglect in nursing care as they never notified us that my mother was dying it was a nurse from an outside source that called us. An abusive nurse whispered in her ear that nobody liked her, nobody noticed that my mother had stage four breast cancer. I found her at lunch with her face in her plate, they started her on an antidepressant but when I asked why her face was in her plate they said she’s always like that.....I visited every second day and she was not like that. Terrible place

My Mother has dimentia and has lived at Garry J Armstrong since 2011. The staff and volunteers at this facility are and always have been the best of the best. I would hope to be placed there if I personally ever need long term care. They are the cadillac of care in Ottawa, they are mandated and succeed at delivering top notch care. All due respect to anyone who judges this facility on one incident, that in my view isn't as it seemed, you have no idea what you are talking about.

My father spent six year in this facility on the dementia floor. The staff were amazing with him and took great care with him. The floor and rooms were kept clean. The grounds are beautiful and perfect for a walk down to the river. I highly recommend the Gary J.!!
