Hecate Cove Lodge

We have been fishing Haida Gwaii for years and made a switch last year to Hecate Cove Lodge. Frank, Elsie, Dean and Serena have the place dialed in with first rate fishing, accommodation and food. Already looking forward to our next group of 8 to Quatsino Sound in a couple of weeks! :)

The staff are very polite and welcoming. Great fishing trip for work! We will definitely come again!

Had a great time fishing and touring with Chris! Fishing was decent for early season and Quatsino is such an interesting and historic place to see. The main Lodge is so cozy, meals are top notch and the quaintness of this lodge combined with the family atmosphere and relaxed pace is unique. A true West Coast Gem! Dean and Serena were so great to work with and thanks again Chris for such a great trip.

We had such a great trip! We went as four couples, and had a fantastic time. Great fishing with knowledgeable guides, cozy accommodations and wonderful meals! Highly recommend!

This is my first review and although I have been to Hecate Cove Lodge 4 times since 2010. I can definitely recommend Dean Kendall and his staff on guiding and that we have always been able to catch more than our fair share of Salmon,Halibut, and Ling and most recently Albacore and great sizeable boats with room. I wanted to write a review because I have felt they have worked hard to elevate the Lodge and our recent trip had lots of nice improvements to enhance the whole experience. There new Red Seal Chef Nile was unreal with exceptional meals that I could go on about(I have eaten all over at some great restaurants) but every night was exceptional and are paired with good decent wines and they share it very generously so you have enough. Since Frank and Elsie Deans parents retired Serena has been kind of front of house manger and she was excellent and always asking what we needed. Lodges are great and have been expanded so there is more guest room with great facilties good beds and linens and towels lots of snacks and the Aframe lodge with full kitchen is a great little spot just by the main lodge for a group of 4. I like that it is more homestyle than the typical big lodges that keep a bar tab going $$$ which is expensive. We brought everything and lots of space to store and refrigerate etc...just like at home. They pack your fish properly so you can board on plane or travel with and good for half a day at the least after you leave. WE go through Comox so the only thing that would be nice is a charter through Port hardy from Calgary as it would alleviate the drive to comox and car rentals but all good nice drive. The Cove at Hecate is very peaceful quiet and very nice and relaxing and the Prawtraps that we set outside the cove was a great touch for the last nights steak dinner was a nice touch! Great place I highly recommend
