What an amazing experience it was obtaining new insurance for my home and cars. I have had home insurance for over 40 years and have never had a claim until this past summer and winter. A tree on our front lawns was hit by lightening, we had a massive power surge go through, resulting in some of our electronics and TV's being damaged. This February during the torrential rain storm and rapid thaw our basement was flooded. My current house insurance sent a registered letter noting they will not renew my policy. I was beside myself, got on the phone looking for another broker that would insure my home. Most insurance companies will not cover you or charge an outrages amount.
