In terms of history, atmosphere and feel, we really loved visiting Le Express and were really happy we went. I didn't feel the food was at the top level of the french we had in Montreal, but I can understand the cafe's longevity and visiting was a memorable highlight of our dining in Montreal. I would go back and see if I could navigate the menu more successfully.

When I enjoyed my meal the phone of the restaurant never stopped. You can tell how good it is. I only order three dishes but all of them are impressive. Let me begin with the green salad. It is definitely different than what I have tasted in any supermarket. It keeps its water and I can tell its freshness. The quail with wild rice is authentic. The skin of the quail is oily and the meat is juicy and tender. The amazing part is the sauce under the wild rice. It saves the free stone like baguette. And the lemon sorbet. The sourness is really dense just like a real lemon. A perfect desert to release the full meal.

Overall, great dining experience. They do take reservations, and you’re greeted right away by someone at the door to take your coats. We were seated at the bar and the service was stellar, well-informed server and quick service (for both food and drinks). We overdid it for food, but everything was exceptionally good. We stayed for 3+ hours and not once did the server in any way rush us, just fully let us enjoy the experience. I really recommend for anyone going as a party of two, only thing I’ll say is the place did not look equipped to take on any groups. But for an intimate dinner, this is a must try!

I'll start by saying that the restaurant is absolutely stunning and the service was very good, as well as the atmosphere. But the food itself was not as good as it is made out to be. I can say here that the chefs are not afraid of seasoning but some of the dishes had me drinking a lot of water.Best dish was the grilled octopus - very tender but the sauce was a little salty. Rilettes I would recommend if you like cold confit or pâté. The duck confit and la tartelette citron were good but nothing too special. La soupe de poissons served with the leathery parmesan crisps weren't great, especially since the fish had an unclean fishiness to it.

Walk in to this place for dinner as we were attracted by the ambience and vibe of this restaurant. Bone Marrow portion was generous and my favourite was the homemade ravioli!

We ordered the fish soup, steak tartare and veal kidneys. The food was very well executed and very delicious. The tartare was well seasoned, kidneys were cooked just nice with a very delicious sauce and the fish soup had a great depth to it.The servers were very prompt, service was quick, we didnt have to wait too long for our food. We also called to make a reservation before coming. There were very packed during lunch! Will definitely come back again!

Fantastic food in a spot that wouldn't be out of place in a Paris suburb.Tightly seated patrons, busy waiters and delicious food with a lovely atmosphere. We have been here twice and the steak Frites and salmon with spinach and lentils are craveable eats.Would definitely recommend.

Popular French restaurant in Montreal, we had to book a table at 8:45pm one month ahead. It is almost impossible to book around 6pm..the food is good and there’s an extensive wine selection, which I was impressed by!

What can I say?wow.I dropped my fork and before it even hit the ground the waiter appeared at my left with a new fork in hand, not a hair out of place.Bone marrow was excellent. The shallot butter - divine. The teeny weeny pickles!! Yep. Everything you could ask for from a date spot.
