Canso Causeway
Interesting causeway with a swing bridge for boat traffic. Not much else to say about it.

The small lighthouse by the bridge is a great place for photos and watch the traffic stop on the causeway as the bridge turn for the yacht to pass

Canso Causeway is a 1,385 m rock-fill causeway in Nova Scotia, Canada. The causeway crosses the Strait of Canso, connecting Cape Breton Island by road to the Nova Scotia peninsula

This only road passage connects the Cape Breton island to the rest of the world. It has a small movable bridge which lets the ferries to pass through. Bridge rotates at its centre to let cross the ferries or small boats through. The bridge got a rail track too.

Gorgeous. If you're lucky while crossing the causeway your trip will be interrupted as a sailboat or other vessel makes its way through the canal. The bridge rotates and it is kind of cool to watch. If this happens it is best to just remain patient and enjoy the site.

In the prairies I wait for trains, and here I wait for boats. Admittedly I've only had to wait once out of 10 times across it.

Was randomly stopped by this rotating bridge on my way through and feel lucky to have seen this fun feat of engineering on a fine summers day.Not so much an attraction as a travel break.

Bridge opened to let pass a small boat (it turns on itself) it stop the traffic for 10 min, but it was cool to see!
