This gym is 100% Veteran friendly! I absolutely love the place! The Coaches and students were so welcoming when I walked in on 01/31/22. I have been training BJJ 2-3 times per week since that time, and have built some really great friendships as a result. Since leaving military service 12 years ago, martial arts have been a huge coping mechanism and they have re-lit a fire in me. I even competed for the first time at 41 years old. During my preparation for my first competition, there was no shortage of support from my Coaches and Training Partners. I got the bug! So grateful to Coach Adam and We Defy Foundation for granting me an opportunity to train BJJ!

Top notch coaches and members set up for what ever your goal may be fitness, self defense, competition they do it all and tailor it for all ages, skill levels and body types. I would highly recommend.

The hardest part for me was walking through the front door! Six years later I’m still a member and two, soon to be all three of my kids are a part of the little champions program. I highly recommend the Academy Elk River for true self defense solutions.

Excellent place to learn MMA and self-defense with highly skilled instructors. It's totally non-gender biased and as a woman I feel completely comfortable in co-ed classes. Every woman should spend some time learning these skills.Edit: Just an update. I'm still there and it's still awesome. Get in the gym and learn really cool stuff!Edit: Annnnnd...I'm still there. The place is only getting better. Several women train now in both Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu. Kid's class is great with a good mix of girls and boys and lots of fun!

All they care about is your money. They don’t care about your kids well being at all. Not a good family oriented Elk River business. Check out Prodigy in Blaine! They are amazing.

If you're looking for a welcoming atmosphere with experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai boxing coaches- The Academy Elk River is the place to train. No matter what your interest level in training is- whether it is to shed a few pounds, increase your physical fitness or fight in the octagon they've got you covered. All ages and ability levels are welcomed. As part of the Combat Athlete Program I have enjoyed the variety that each class brings, the friends I've made and the self-defense skills I've learned. The Little Champions class has helped my son and daughter find focus and build confidence. I highly recommend The Academy Elk River!

The instructors are nice and caring but the owner/coach doesn't care about military or customer service as soon as you join. I gave proper notice to freeze my account and month after month I'm told my account will be froze or refunded only after 4 months I'm told I need proper signatures even though I'm away on military travels. Time after time I was promised after multiple emails and phone calls weekly. Disgusting treatment. Updating. Owner reached out. Still isn't cooperating or responding. Going to court soon.
