Context: Came here during Dine Out Vancouver. Perhaps this was my mistake.Seating: promptly seated as had resoService: bad, bad. Understaffed? No greeting or water for what seemed like 10 minutes. Had to flag for service throughout the evening. Additionally, I order quite a few drinks with my dinner and was only asked once if I would like another drinks. Now, one could argue I could just ask for another (which I did), but good service would be the servers asking as they clear my empty drink away (don’t you guys want to make money?). By the end of it, I gave up because it had already left a bad note with the subpar service.Food: Bland and under delivered. Likely due to these items being batch and largely pre-prepped for DOV.Atmosphere: Was okay, nothing amazing.Verdict: I’ve dined here previously and thought I’d try it again during DoV, unfortunately with everything experience, I would not return.

We walked in without a reservation on a Saturday night. Maitre'd Peter gave us the only table left in the private courtyard. We are a party of 6(4 adults and 2 4-5yr olds) he and the staff were very friendly and accommodating to our kids. We loved the food and cocktails. Everyone had a great time and will be returning for future visits.

My friend and I shared the salmon Benedict and the French toast. It was incredible! And the prices are super reasonable too.Big shout out to our server and the staff here. We got asked if we wanted more coffee every 15 mins and felt like the staff really knew what they were doing. 100/10 will come back here when I'm back in Vancouver.

Great fresh, local restaurant! The best oysters I have ever had (said they got them from the area every morning)! Would recommend everyone come here and try anything.

Spent a few days at the Listel Hotel and Forage was recommended to me by several folks. The restaurant has a nice modern feel, the staff were welcoming and helpful in their recommendations. If you are into locally sourced and sustainable foods, Forage might be up your alley! I should also mention…. Their sourdough pan bread is an absolute treat and definitely a must if you visit (it’s great as an appetizer or dessert!).

Had a great Easter brunch with the family. Was able to get a reservation for 6 without issue (we did book a week in advance). Due to the holiday they did request we be done in 75 minutes for the next party.Great drinks and food. I had the whiskey latte and the pork belly Benedict. Highly recommend. Family also had the pancakes, which they loved as well.

Start to finish, front to back, great experience on every level and vegetarian friendly! If you are like me, farm-to-table is your go-to criteria for eating in a region you have not been to. For this reason, I picked out Forage for a family dinner during my first visit to Vancouver. Everything we had was just varying degrees of amazing. We started with the Cast Iron Pan Bread which is served in the cast iron. It is warm, sweet and savory, made with local cheddar and spicy honey. It is somewhere in between a mini Detroit style pizza and a sweet fried bread like an apple fritter. From the starters, I assume you should try everything, but do not miss the cast iron bread.Next up we ordered a trio of mains: Mushroom Steak, Pork Crépinette (our one meat dish), and the gnocchi. All three may be the best version of each that I have eaten. The mushroom steak was perfectly tender. Lion’s mane over a celeriac puree with mushroom jus. Topped with crispy onion rings for some crunch. I have a love-hate relationship with mushrooms and this dish is way over on the love side. Two out of my top three all time meat-eating experiences have involved a farm-to-table pork sausage, and Forage’s Crépinette is one of them. The pork crépinette is divine. The loin part is tender and juicy, and the ground sausage is on another level all together. It was topped with an excellent peppercorn sauce as well as a parsley coulis and an apple purée. Three sauces is bold, especially when sausage brings so much flavor to the table but this whole dish was perfectly balanced. Everyone who tried it was blown away.Lastly we had the gnocchi. They were pillowy and soft, topped with brown butter crumb for some crunch and tossed in a delicious nettle cream. The Alpindon cheese also brought some nutty flavor to the dish.To round it all out we had the whiskey spiked vegetables as a side. This was a fine plate of roasted carrots and parsnips. Not that we needed more food, but they rounded out the meal. Finally, against some protest from very full and content diners, I ordered the spice cake to share for the table. This was possibly one of the best desserts I have ever had. The cake was perfectly moist, topped with pickled apples, buttermilk gel, candied orange zest (which blew all of our minds), and a pecan crumble for crunch. Surrounding the cake was an orange custard that we almost came to blows over. I cannot sing this dessert’s praises enough. Our service was fantastic. We were here on a Saturday night and never once felt like we were rushed or off pace with the meal. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful and really made the whole experience great for each of us.Eat at Forage. I know I will return when I am back in Vancouver.

Love this place. We've been here once before and the food was excellent. They outdid themselves this time. For appies, we ordered the bison carppacio, sablefish collars, pork jowls, squash croquets, all of which were awesome and packed with flavour. For mains, we had bison cheeks, Cornish hen, octopus and bison steak, all of which were so unique and delicious. Dessert was a chocolate pound cake which was so rich and satisfying. Highly recommend Forage for any occasion. Staff and services were amazing too, so friendly and accommodating. Will be back again!!

Overall, I think the food is nice and above average, but I expected more given the prices charged and the fame of this restaurant. For starters, the seared tuna and oysters were freshly served. But I think there were too much tuna paste on the tuna which overtook the freshness of the seafood. The miso itself was too rich and my tongue got carried away. For main, I ordered the grilled octopus and pork chop. Again, the use of miso paste in both dishes were too significant and I found the flavour too repetitive. The pork chop, in particular, was drowned in different sauces. I wasn’t too sure what the chef was trying to present.Knowing the chef-in-charged is a Chinese, I was hoping to see some Chinese cooking method / elements in the dishes. Unfortunately, there weren’t any…
