Scene About Town

I’m going to give SAT the benefit of the doubt that our lousy experience was Covid related, but it would be more responsible to just advise customers that your business is closed right now, because that’s certainly how it felt. We were looking for some flatware, chairs, and linens for our 10 person outdoor wedding. No response to dozens of emails, even after multiple phone calls. Most of the time the phone calls were unanswered. Partial confirmation over the phone that our order looked ok but nothing ever back in writing. I am so glad we did not rely on SAT for our event. Perhaps when Covid is better under control there will be a fuller staff and better service? Would not recommend booking here.

The good: Our wedding guests were able to sit on the chairs, they were clean and the price was ok. The chairs were delivered to the correct location and collected from the correct location.The bad: Zero communication. The excuse: no cell service in Sooke". Just untrue. Waited all day (the day before our wedding) for a phone call about chairs. Nothing. Inconvenient."

I booked all the rentals for my wedding from Scene About Town, and everything was perfect! Jason was very responsive and incredibly flexible when I asked to change the duration of our rental right at the very end (day before pick up!). He went above and beyond to accommodate any request we had, and his pick up and delivery crew were so friendly! Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely recommend Jason and Scene About Town for their service. Thank you, Jason!

I noticed some bad reviews here in regards to their communication style/response time; Jason, is slightly late with email responses but if you mention it's urgent, he responds faster.Despite the mixed reviews here, we decided to rent chairs for our wedding form SAT. Nothing to regret. The delivery was pretty on-time and honestly the quality of Chiavari chairs were much better than what I have seen at other events and at a better price. I highly recommend them.

Scene has been an outstanding business to work with. Myself, as a caterer, have counted on them for years now and have always favoured their sense of personal touch and connection over other vendors in Victoria.

We used Scene About Town for our wedding rentals. In the end everything turned out well but there was a mistake made the night before our wedding when the wrong tables/linens were delivered. This was rectified the next morning but a lot of stress could have been averted if Jason had just responded to my calls and assured me that it would be made right. Instead, I didn't hear from him and I was left to worry and wonder about my reception. Communication could certainly have been better.Lisa

They dont pay their rent!!!

Poor communication. This business does not return emails or phone calls. Their mail box is full. Considering this is a rental business for special occasions one would assume that the staff would appreciate that communication is crucial. Reading here that a woman was sent the wrong linens and tables the day before her wedding and then not hearing back from the staff, is distressing. I'm happy that I read this, and will avoid using this business.

Owner mistreats employees, promises raises and doesnt follow through, doesnt respond to employees for days when they try to reach him, and puts personal above business.**Owner fires employees with zero warning through text message!!!**Unprofessional and do not recommend using someone who doesnt care about others or their livelihood!

Jason, Ken and the rest of the Scene About Town Team have always been an absolute pleasure to work with! Jason is incredibly accommodating and has often gone out of his way to provide us with the best possible customer service. Whether it involves squeezing in a last-minute order or a (very) early morning delivery, SAT always pulls through for us. I would recommend them to anyone.
