UPDATE: Still love this place. They always had friendly service, but have improved the service in that they are much faster now.Pretty much have tried everything on the menu now including the Mole, Bean, Roja, and Verde Enchiladas, the Carne Asada Plate, the Quesadilla, Tacos, and Sopes too. The Sopes are a must try along with the Azteca soup (tortilla soup).First time and was super impressed! The staff was exceptionally friendly, although the food took a little long to come out.Started with the Aztec Soup that made the trip worth it on it's own. The flavour was bold and balanced with the right amount of spice, tang, and richness. The addition of the cheese, avocado and tortilla chips made for a perfect bite! Then we tried the Alambre and the Torta with Barbacoa. Both dishes were packed with meat and absolutely delicious. AND the margarita was also great and not too sweet!

As we walked in, it felt like we were transported to Mexico. It was beautiful. The food was fabulous, the service impeccable and the prices affordable and definitely worth it.I definitely recommend Molcajete- not listed. It is a platter that serves 4-6.

This restaurant far surpassed any expectations I had. Amazing food, excellent service, paid amazing attention to my allergy list. If I could they would get 10 stars!

This is our second time visiting. Our first visit was soon after opening and you could tell that service required a little work. The food was on point then, and was even better this time around (about a year ago). We all finished our meals (two adults, two kids). Tacos were great and the nachos were very filling. Service was terrific, very attentive. Decor is warm and inviting. Highly recommend.

Excellent tacos here. The Al Pastor and Barbacoa tacos were delicious and the meat was tender and not dry! I'm insane for cilantro and onions on my tacos but it was nice to see them set these aside for people that don't like them. My only complaint would be to have bigger salsa dishes, I couldn't get enough of it, it was so good. This place was the perfect spot for a late taco and beer type lunch. Great decor which was so much more than a few decorations and some wall murals. They even had some really well crafted statues which shows their desire in creating a great environment to enjoy the food and drinks. Next time I'm in Calgary, I'm coming back for more.

The most tasty mexican food I have tried in Calgary, the flavors are really close or identicals to what I remember from my home city. It transported me many years back in time.

I possibly went into this restaurant with high expectations and, unfortunately, was let down. The flavours just weren't what I've experienced in Mexico. When I travel, I eat where the locals congregate, I know I'll get great food and decent prices. The decor in Casa Catrina was done very tastefully and authentic Mexican. The music was a bit too loud for conversing and talking to staff but was pleasant Latino music. The staff were all very friendly, however, there was a lot of confusion seating us and taking our orders. We had a reso and were a party of 4, they gave us two drink menus and 2 food menus. We ordered margaritas & horchata. Both were delicious, best part of the meal actually. To start we had the taco trio with chips, frijoles, guacamole & salsa. Guacamole & salsa were average, didn't seem in house made. Frijoles were warm with melted cheese. Carne Asada was flavorless, rock hard and seemed cooked on a flat top instead of a BBQ (no char). Al Pastor tacos, again, lacked flavour. We also had chicken enmoladas , the mole was very bland and the red sauce was very heavy on the tomato flavour. Overall, not a great experience.I'll likely not return. I think I've been spoiled by the street food in Mexico.
