As a teacher myself, I have found that the hardest part of working with students (especially adult students) is motivating them to practice.Duran's teaching style is so motivating it COMPELS you to make time to practice. Duran has an innate gift of intuitively knowing where his students are, where they need to go and how to get them there. He is a consummate professional always looking to get better at his crafts: teaching and drumming. If you are even slightly considering taking lessons - do it - and take them with Duran! Duran is a professional drummer, also an awesome teacher. You'll always feel learning a lot in each lesson and keeps developing your drumming skills. Duran makes each lesson personalized, he will find and fix your bad habits, teach based on your current level and interest.I'd definitely recommend it to anyone want to learn drums

I emailed Duran through his website looking to set up an online lesson as I am not located in Vancouver. Duran made this possible and we set a lesson up through FaceTime.I am an intermediate/ advanced drummer, and I hit a big plateau in my playing and I communicated that to Duran from the get go. He listened to my issues that I've been dealing with in my playing, and helped me single in on a few concepts that would direct me into more focused and driven practice time. He proceeded to lay down exercises that have since challenged me and taken me into a more creative space.Duran was patient, communicated concisely, and proved to me that he has a wide understanding of the drums. I first met Duran in February 2021 as I wanted to do something fun during this pandemic and happened to find out he has been offering exciting drum lessons near where I live. Duran is not only an engaging drum tutor, but also a great music (or even life) coach. He has been helping me improve my drumming skills as well as develop my interest in music. Lessons are always tailored to my needs and ability. It might sound slightly exaggerated but my life has definitely changed since I started hitting the drums with Duran. I am looking forward to enjoying more drumming times with Duran!

If you looking to pick up a new skill, Duran’s lessons are definitely for you. I didn’t realize that playing drums can be so easy and entertaining . Duran is an amazing teacher and will always challenge you with something new, while keeping it doable and not too painful to figure out :) These lessons will quickly become something that you will be looking forward to every week, and you will be impressed with how much you can learn in a few months with some practice between lessons.

Duran is an excellent teacher with awesome personality. I thought learning the drums would be overwhelming and hard.. but Duran makes it feel so simple and easy! He makes sure you understand the material before moving on to the next section. He's encouraging, patient, and knowledgeable. You won't regret choosing him as your drum teacher!

I’ve been taking drum lessons bi-weekly with Duran for the past couple months (with no previous experience) and am amazed with the progress I’ve made so far! Duran has already got me playing along to some songs which is a lot of fun and keeps me motivated to keep practicing. He’s got a ton of experience playing various styles and knows a lot about the history of drumming which always makes for great conversation during the lesson. Whatever type of music you’re into or skill level, you’ll definitely learn a ton playing with Duran.

Duran is an outstanding teacher. He has an inexhaustable collection of exercises and drills that keep you motivated to practice each week. Best of all, the drills work. My drumming keeps improving. His teaching setup is great, playing side by side on full drum kits. I often look forward to my lessons just for the joy of playing at full volume on his well-tuned kits. I had been stuck in a rut for years, reinforcing my same old bad habits in my practice time. With Duran's help, I was able to break through to the next level.
