Booked with hairstylist Reece: great experience, shared a photo of what I wanted and she was able to modify it to my hair type and gave a lot of helpful advice. Easy to talk to, good vibes at the salon. Really satisfied with my haircut. I have thick straight Asian hair.

I've been going to Jodi (@hairbyjodixo on insta) at Studio So Lara for over 2 years now and I'm absolutely blown away every single time by her work. She's the only person I've ever had dye my hair because as a ginger I was always worried about ruining my colour" but she's always done such a spectacular job and I would recommend her to anyone!"

I went to another studio so lara location earlier in the day and didn’t have the greatest experience. I was finished around closing time so they weren’t answering their phones so I decided to call the Kitchener location just to explain my frustration. I had the pleasure of speaking to Shae who listened to me and made me feel heard and normal for feeling the way I was. As someone who isn’t confrontational it was so comforting to be able to deal with shae because she was so kind and genuine. She immediately diffused the situation and brought me in so I could get my hair fixed. Karina was the stylist that re did my hair and she was so amazing. She was so kind, understanding and genuine. I’m so thankful for Shae and Karina and the way they were able to turn around my day and overall experience!

Update:Dec 20 2022Received a call from studio but couldnt make to appointment due to other reasons. Later booked an appointment and this time Lara styled my hair. Experience was amazing with her right from hospitality she was kind and patient listened and answered my concerns. She did my hair cut with utmost care. This time salon felt completely different and worth every penny. Hair wash massage blow dry and cut all went very well and I left place satisfied. She was so warm and took equal care of all the customers. I think I will be visiting this salon again. Thanks Lara for making me feel welcomed.Updated my hair cut images.Sept 2022I visited today for hair cut with SHAE.I read some reviews here and booked an appointment with Shae. I was on time and stylist took me in on time. Shae asked me how I wanted the cut, did not provide any suggestions. I think I was received a little different (not so welcoming)I was not asked how I like my hair washed like if water is warm enough or not, i was not offered any coffee or atleast asked if I need something. My stylist was silent all the time and did not reciprocate at all. I did mention that i have sensitive scalp even then my hair was brushed harsh. When I tried to say something she was like what.... I felt a lil offended. These all are very small things to point but do matter and effect on whole experience. Coming to hair cut I asked for layers and face frame I did not even ask for styling just a blow dry. I am not happy with layers as i do not see them much. Others stylists who started working with clients before me were still continuing and checking with them how they like. But my cut was done in no time.I feel she just rushed the appointment, thats the reason i just told ok i am happy and just left.This cut was important for me as I have events lined up for weekend and now I am left dissapointed.

I do not recommend this salon and would like to share factual information and photo evidence of what I have experienced these past few months. I requested a soft subtle sunkissed balayage by the manager, Joanna. Please view the pictures to see the various shades of grey, blonde, orange, yellow and brass “highlights” that I was given. A few days later, the owner, Lara, offered to fix my hair for free and replicate the balayage picture. Seeing as she was the owner, I trusted her. After this treatment, my hair then turned shades of red and purple. The next best solution that we mutually agreed on was to dye my hair back to my “natural brunette colour”. After this treatment, my hair came out black (not even close to my natural colour- see collage photo). I was not expecting it to be this dark, but it was better than the first treatment. In the salon that day, the owner and I made a mutual agreement that she would continue to maintain my hair. As the black dye faded over the next 8 weeks, my hair turned to complete red/brass (picture attached). I went in for a second time to have my hair coloured back to it’s natural brown colour and I was told that I would have to pay for this service. After voicing my concerns the owner agreed to pay for this dye but I was informed that this would be the last time this service was offered for free. I am utterly disappointed in this salon for ruining my beautiful virgin hair. After coming here for 2 years to have my hair cut, I really trusted them to give me the balayage look that I was after. If I had gotten the balayage that I requested in the first place, I would have never had to return for updated colours. Now I will be finding a different salon and spending hundreds of dollars dying my hair every 8 weeks to try to maintain my natural brown colour. The photos speak for themselves.

Reece is literally incredible! Like one of my fav people ever! The best and more personable stylist ever, I would literally recommend her and studio so lara to anyone!

I love going here. People are friendly and a great atmosphere, they even serve hot drinks! I see Brooke, it’s like visiting a friend and having a chat. She always does my hair great. I’ve never left disappointed.
