Detour Cafe – Detour Coffee Roasters | Detour Cafe in Dundas, Ontario. Our cafe showcases the seasonal coffees we source and freshly roast. We also house Dear Grain, our sister brand that bakes natural levain and slow ferment artisan bread, and pastries. We're open Monday - Saturday: 8am - 5pm, Sunday: 9am - 5pm.

Detour Cafe
Ordered a Cortado from the lady at the cash who was having a conversation with another employee while taking my order. No biggie. Receive the “Cortado” and on my way out it immediately spills and burns my hand multiple times due to a loose lid. Barista carelessly didn’t secure the lid for whatever reason and filled the cup to the absolute top. Once I exit the cafe I decide to stop in order to secure my lid and check why my “Cortado” is so watery in comparison to all the other ones I’ve had. Lo and behold it’s not actually a “Cortado” but a coffee. Which coffee blend? I don’t know because i never ordered one. Anyways mistakes happen and typically i would have walked off and chalked it up as an accident but considering my whole right hand was burnt I had to go inside to let them know of the mistake so maybe it doesn’t happen to the next person.I go to the counter to let her know she made a mistake and the barista immediately deflects the blame on me, typical gas light. After blaming me she immediately disappears into the back without trying to resolve the issue. What an insufferable and incompetent employee. Just a horrible representative of the business and if i was the employer i would be very concerned especially since the business is so dependent on customer service.Luckily one of the other employees/baristas overheard what happened and quickly made me what i ordered when i didn’t even say a word to him - way to take initiative. Sucks he had to take ownership of a grown child’s mistake and I appreciate what he did. You guys should give him a raise.Sucks one miserable individual can make the whole business look bad.If it wasn’t for my experience with a rude and ignorant barista I would be giving this place 4 of 5 due to the nice decor and really nice seating areas.

We came here during phase 3 of covid pandemic on a lovely Saturday. Staff here are very friendly and attentive. The patio is private and shaded with style. The coffee and cookies here are beyond my expectations.The buckwheat dark chocolate cookie was a perfect pairing with our iced coffee. We ordered the iced latte (husband got a refill, it's that good) and a breakfast sandwich and Mediterranean chicken sandwich. Ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Needless to say, we will be back here again!!

Unique potato leak soup and paired nicely with their bread. Also the apricot tea cake (grain free) was delicious. Food was well worth the long lunch line up.

It was too noisy inside. The outside patio is nice and cozy. Portion size was generous. Service was really good; they have an efficient system. Coffee was well-balanced with a nice aftertaste. Would recommend the pulled pork sandwich.

My one of favorite coffee shop! Love this place and coffee so much. The space is a bit small but love the design and it was very cozy. I had salmon open sandwich and it was great :)

Such a nice local cafe in the neighbourhood! Wish I live close by.Today, I ordered a flat white and two bags of coffee beans. The barista was very friendly to explain the types of coffee beans and helped me to get the one that I like.The flat white I had today was a medium roast coffee beans that taste flowery without too much of acidity. Strongly recommended

Heard about their beans and wanted to check this place out. The coffee is smooth and prepped very well. Baristas know what they are doing. The food and baked goods are delicious too. Only reason I gave 4/5 is due to the really high expectations I had coming in but it's more of a 4.5/5.

A neat little neighbourhood café with a large patio. Ordered an Iced Latte - which was 50 cents more than the hot one for some reason - and it was enjoyable. The cafe also features a good selection of coffee and breakfast options, alongside a mini in-cafe bakery. But the best part of the place is the atmosphere, getting to enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the patio was a delightful experience.

A very nice place to have a sandwich and coffee in autumn noon. The bread is so good and you can not stop buying one to take back home. It’s recommended by my friend, I like here so much.
