Took a lesson at the 10 St wave and it was fun and I felt very safe! The instructor outlined the risks clearly. I liked the gradual introduction of getting into the current and swimming out. I highly recommend this prairie surfing experience!

Had such an amazing experience with Outlier Surf! Luke was a fantastic teacher and made me feel very comfortable in the new environment. The lesson group was small enough that I still felt like I was able to get some helpful 1-on-1 feedback and I improved really quickly over the course of the lesson.The entire community at the wave was great too! The locals were really encouraging of all the beginners, and never acted like we were getting in their way. I got helpful tips from strangers in the line, and a bunch of excited cheers whenever someone in the group caught a wave.Overall the whole Calgary river surfing experience was amazing, and I hope it continues to grow! If you want to try it out, I think that Luke is the best person to get you started. Lessons are really affordable, and I promise you'll be hooked after the first run! I'll definitely be going back!

I did my first lesson about a month ago with Outlier Surf. The session was way to much fun. It’s such an awesome community to get involved with. Luke was super helpful and very encouraging to everyone in his lesson, teaching us different methods of getting into the wave and getting up. Outlier gives you everything you need for the lesson.. Surfboard, wetsuit, booties, and a helmet! All you need to do it go do it. And I strongly believe you should! I had so much fun. The group was full of all ages to.

I would highly recommend Outlier to anyone wanting to try River Surfing in Calgary. Their lessons offer a great introduction to river surf gear, safety and etiquette. The lessons are well balanced with a dry land explanation and lots of time on the water to test your skills. They also offer a good selection of boards and wet suits!!
