Yodaman Solo, thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom.I've driven past many times assuming that it was Aboriginal artwork. It's an amazing tribute to a tragic event.Major props to the Architects, Artists, and Sculptors.

The dramatic bowl-shaped wood structure, with an oculus opening in its centre, contains 1,000 hand-crafted silver plates from Turkey. I had always assumed that this was a sculpture of a Geode. It is worth pointing that at the other end of the Champlain Bridge that there is an area where you can observe Stromatolites, biosedimentary structures built up by cyanobacteria and blue-green algae some 460 million years ago.Sadly it is a monument to Fallen Diplomats erected in 2012 to commemorate the assassination of Colonel Atila Altikat, the military attaché of Ottawa's Turkish Embasssy at this intersection in 1982, by militants of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia. (And people think that nothing ever goes on in Ottawa). It created controversy when erected, as it stirred sentiments between the Armenian and Turkish communities in view of the Armenian genocide.Being respectful of what it represents should be considered when taking pictures. Please consult posted pictures to see the names of the artists. AndThe Centre for International Governance for Innovation still has a speech made by, former diplomat and director of the Centre for Global Relations at Wilfrid Laurier University, Paul Heinbecker in 2014 at the Monument. A historical point that often goes unnoticed by a disoriented pedestrian. It is worth delving into the crime and the situation that led to the manifestation of violence that took place here.
