MGE Carpentry

We continue to enjoy the Trex deck MGE Carpentry built for us 11 years ago. The deck still looks great and requires very little maintenance. Recalling the help and guidance Mike provided in designing the deck, the workmanship and professionalism of the crew, and the follow up service, it was, all in all, a pleasant experience for us. We were very pleased with MGE Carpentry and highly recommend them.

No attempts to upsell, great advice on size and materials. Construction was done by the same two people each day. Work was done with care and attention to detail. I would recommend this company to anyone. We're glad we found them.

I would recommend MGE Carpentry to anyone who is looking for a good quality deck. My deck is very solid & looks great. The workmen were very professional, kept me undated on progress, and complete the deck, even with bad weather, in a reasonable time frame. I was very pleased.

We needed to replace our existing rotten wooden deck and choose a composite Trex deck. The team at MGE were very easy to work with and we couldn't be happier with the beautifully finished project. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to City codes and permits and they handled every facet of the approval process. They were always on time, very professional and fully engaged and accommodating with any questions or requests that we had. We would highly recommend MGE for any deck projects!

We had our 18 year old deck torn out and replaced with a new Trex deck. Ralph was great working with me on the design and Bill was fantastic as the builder! Bill and I even made some slight changes during the building process. We had a bar, bench and planter boxes built in along with a privacy wall and we LOVE IT! Our deck was completed in February so we are anxiously awaiting warmer temps to put her to use.

I'm biased because I work here, but I wouldn't still be around over 20 years later if we didn't have a great group of people creating an awesome product and ultimately hundreds of satisfied customers. All of our crew leaders have been building for us a minimum of 5 years, with some that have been around 20 years and more. We do great work, I promise. Update: It's 2023 and I'm still here and we're still building great decks in Michigan! Call us up!

It was a great experience dealing with this company, from start to finish they did exactly what we were told they would do! Such an awesome thing in this crazy world we live in today. we highly recommend them for all your deck installations, you will not be disappointed!

Our deck is exactly what we dreamed of. Their scheduling could be a little better but overall we are extremely happy with the end result. Mike was great and delivered exactly what he promised.

MGE Carpentry aka Custom DecksI don't know what happened to this company since the last reviews, but if I could give them less than one star I would.I hired them to do the deck on July 11, 2018 they started the build on Oct. 3, 2018 and they are done with it as of Dec. 4, 2018.The reason I hired them to begin with was because they claim to be custom deck builders and they had a five star review record. They were the highest bid, but I was willing to pay more to get what I wanted. As it turned out, I got what they wanted to do, and I even had to stop them at one point to correct the roof over the deck.Like I said, this company does not deserve 5 stars period.One of the pictures shows where I had to have them stop and have the city inspector come out. The other picture shows the progress at November 28, 2018.Don't be fooled... they are now going by Custom Decks, but it's the same company.
