Those that hate dive bars are the ones that give it a 1 Star. Those are also the people that never been to a small town bar. The Cecil is just that it’s just like every small town bar. It’s an old hotel that’s been there since the railroad came through. Relaxing atmosphere, sit down have a beer and a burger and just chat with the regulars. I love it because I am small town and when you walk in and know everyone it’s just like being back in a small town.Also they sponsor a wicked Off Road Club called Pirate Off Road Nation. Show your membership card in the diner and get 15% off food.

I go nearly every day now for either a cup of coffee or something to eat, have been for a few months now. I recommend the $7.50 breakfast, the bacon cheeseburger with fresh cut fries at $12.50, and the cecil has a mean poutine as well at $11. Their portions are massive, anything you order will leave you full and its always good, old school diner food. The place is family and child friendly, and to the people unsure about the cecil, i recommend they give the little diner a chance.

This place is disgusting. Everyone other bar in Medicine Hat EXCEPT for this place let me in on my birthday. Looks like they needed the business anyways and won’t ever get mine or any of my friends again. Dumpster dive. If the casino can let me in at 12am (a high end business) the lowest bar in town should let me in.

As a regular I may have a bias to how I rate this bar but here is the jyst. I enjoy coming here, The main reason I keep coming is the amazing atmosphere that cecil has as its calming and open to discussion. The crew treats me like any good friend would and everyone that pops in are usually really nice. The beer and drinks are in my opinion the cheapest and best in medicine hat and the bartenders are the greatest servers in attitude and speed that i have ever seen. The only reason I wont give 5/5 is cause noone is perfect and the cecil is not for everyone. I enjoy singing and having this type of atmosphere and being able to have a conversation while drinking my alcohol as many other bars you just cant cause they play music way to loud.

Yes I'm bias but this place has changed over the years. New tables,chairs. Great food best hamburgers in the city,Free pool 10am to 8pm everyday great staff and much more.

Most clean and well renovated little gem in the Hat , so funny from the outside it's a scary old ally entrance tavern on the Inside it's supper awesome Zac Kicks it working his magic on the Karaoke suggesting awesome tunes to pic From

It had a good choice of VLT's but is fairly old which makes it seem not to clean or well taken care of. It also has a foul smell, which smells like sewer. So I wouldn't take a date here that's forsure.

Went there for breakfast since the radio advertised they had renovated.Seriously the worst coffee I have ever had.Breakfast was a joke. Dirty heater on the table.Everything I had a similar off" taste to it.I wanted it to be good...or at least acceptable as it was cheap.The meal was horrible.I really can't say anything good about it.It was quiet in there.......maybe that's the good."

Great staff. If its a slow night they will get to know you and make you feel like family. Its the main reason I accepted their job offer as a karaoke host.
