Ottawa Tool Library

I'm always a fan of resource sharing and waste prevention, and this place is super well run with friendly folks. Have done several home improvement projects in the past year with borrowed tools. A bit bummed they're further out now, but hope to make use of them all the same.

As a new homeowner, the tool library has been a great ressource! No need to buy tools for occasional or one-time use, I can simply borrow them and save on cost (and space storing these tools that would be seldomly used). Staff is also super friendly and helpful.

As a home owner, I don't need to own or store many tools that I use on a regular basis. It's fast and easy to borrow from the Ottawa Tool Library... the monthly workshop are helpful for tips and tricks on how to use and maintain the tools you borrow or have at home. Great value! Joined about 6 months ago for a single project that required some tools I didn't have. Registration was simple, and was able to start borrowing right away. Staff are friendly and approachable, have good knowledge about the items, able to teach you the basics on how to use a tool, and the price is more than reasonable. Wide selection of tools with an inventory you can browse and search through online. I think the only knock I would be able to come up with is that a drill bit set I borrowed seemed a little dull - still did the job, just felt like it took a little long. Minor point, and not totally unexpected when you have donated items.Have been able to have a go at many projects since the first one, and would definitely recommend!

I remember when I saw the tool library that it was such a cool space to Work on projects and promote creativity. They have everything that you could think of available for people to use. I was so excited to be a part of the organization until I started to volunteer there. I volunteered on the social media committee. Both of the girls that headed up the committee were super mean and rude. For a place that promotes creativity they had a my way or the highway attitude and wouldn’t listen ideas that didn’t fall within the same idea of what they wanted. I missed several meetings because I had badly hurt my ankle and once because I had the flu. And they were like well you can’t keep missing meetings. I’m sorry I’m volunteering for you. This is not my job. Ridiculous. I would shy away from volunteering for this organization. From my experience they are all snots

Amazing place of community. I've been to many repair cafes here and saw many items fixed by knowledgeable and friendly volunteers. Everyone is friendly and approachable and a magician with brown electronic or sweaters with holes.

Ottawa Tool Library's new location is great, and the staff are as friendly and helpful as they ever were. Their new space is really well organized and the diversity of tools and workshops offered is an unbelievable resource for every DIY person. Highly recommended; you won't be disappointed.
