The staff was very friendly and helpful while we purchased our non-resident licenses and the owner of the store came out and introduced himself while we discussed the specifics of our pending guided trips on the Elk River. Mark, our guide for both days on the river, was knowledgeable, cheerful and accommodating almost beyond belief. Never had more fun on guided trips in my life. We will be going back every summer for as long as we are above ground.

Broke my tip top while fishing Frenchman’s creek near sparwood, stopped by the shop not knowing what to expect. There was a young guy working the shop and Gord the owner was nearby. I was greeted pleasantly and I enquired if they had spare tip tops(last guide on tip section). They had the guide, glue, and put it on. They charged a nominal fee which really was nothing at all. I also picked up some tippet and a few other goodies. Exceptional service and a very helpful friendly place. Thx guys!

Terrible experience as a first time BC angler. Was looking to get more knowledge on local fishing spots, but was met with a firm reluctance to share any info. Instead, we were told repeatedly and condescendingly that if KILLING fish is what you're doing

Gord the owner has the most knowledge on fishing this area. The lodge is first class for a great fishing trip. The guiding service provided is second to none in the area. Others try their best in Fernie but Ford's shop and lodge tops them all.

Having started my journey in Florida a month ago and fly fished across the U.S. and parts of Canada, I have never experienced such great customer service and genuine concern for the average fly angler from a fly shop. Gordon, Christine, and David are amazing, and create a positive experience for beginner to expert. Just one example of how accommodating they are is exemplified by David, the shop guru and resident fly tying expert. He personally tied a hot fly pattern for me, which totally blew me away. All anglers who come to Fernie and fish the Elk River will be hard pressed to find a better fly shop, and just plain awesome human beings.

We have come up from the states 3 years in a row, and after a poor experience with another shop, we chose to use this one. Very friendly and helpful staff. Shuttles have always been run on time and done well. Good fly selection. These guys remember us every year we come up, and always go out of their way to make us feel welcomed.

We were on our way through Fernie camping and fishing and called this fly shop to get some local recommendations. The young man on the phone suggested a few lakes we could fish since the rivers couldn't be fished til mid June. We also stopped by the fly shop on the way through and bought some flies! Highly recommended! We're from the states and learned a lot about fishing British Columbia. We'll definitely be back to float the river with these guys!

Took my 12-year old fisherman in today’s and they were AWESOME!!! He had never fly fished before and we needed to rent some gear. Everyone was so helpful and kind. He had a great day - and even caught one!
