Kou Brenda Dr

This doctor is genuinely the worse medical professional I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. The appointment wasn’t even for me, it was for my father. I don’t doubt Dr.Kou is skilled I mean she is a doctor after all, but she lacks any and all basic manners and human decency. I wouldn’t be surprised if the only reason she regular still has such a flow of patients is because there’s a massive shortage of medical professionals and she’s one of few nose, ear, and throat specialists in the area. If you’re reading this, have your family physician recommend you another one. Even if it’s a further out location, seriously worth the trip.She was rude, and pushy. Borderline threw a temper tantrum because my father couldn’t under her Mandarin well and she doesn’t speak Cantonese, which is fine, I was there to translate English to Cantonese for a reason but she kept speaking to me in Mandarin which I was repeatedly and explicitly stated I do not speak nor understand Mandarin which led to her being frustrated I couldn’t understand her even though she could just switch to English. She did eventually after multiple attempts, she seems to be fluent in English too so I’m not sure what the issue was.Was blunt in directions with little to no explanation of what was expected as if her patients too went to medical school with her and residency and must know exactly what the procedure is like she does. She was also visibly upset and bothered when directions weren’t understood in a second, like my father is old, this is an elderly man. Just because you’re telling him to get up and move to another room without even stating which one, doesn’t mean he’s going to teleport there in 2 seconds.I will say the employees at the receptionist desk were actually very kind and pleasant during our visit. There were 2 women there one a bit older and one younger. Though other reviews don’t seem to have always shared this experience.Last thing, this doctor requires the use of a platform called Medeo which per my research seems to mainly be used for virtual healthcare services. This office DOES NOT use it as expected for setting up appointments. This means you can’t make an appointment on the platform nor do the appointments you have show up there. It’s only used to send you a message stating an appointment you made and send you associated forms you may need such as referrals for scans or tests. Main issue with this, there is zero notification when a message is sent on this platform. I have not received any emails or text notifications, nothing. So unless you yourself remember to log into to platform you will not see any appointment confirmations, reminders, any associated form, or any other messages you may receive. This is a serious flaw because why force your patients to sign up for it and use it when it genuinely does not benefit them at all? Reminders can be emailed as many other offices do or done as calls. Referrals forms, also easily emailed which is what many others do.Anyways, this was long and long overdue, my first interaction with this office was not even recent and every time an appointment or related topic is brought up my disbelief and opinion remains the same. Thought it would be beneficial for people to know what they’re getting into beforehand but it seems like many others have shared their equally disappointing experiences.

To say it was a bad experience is understated, if I could give a 0 I would.When I arrived I had forgotten my mask and was hopeful they might have been kind enough to offer one with it being a clinic, instead there was an aggressive note on the door stating you cannot enter without a mask.I ended up purchasing a bunch at the pharmacy in the same building just for this appointment, which you will soon find was pointless and a waste of money.1.The moment I was at the desk I am told there are delays2.I get the first check done and wait for Dr.Brenda. when suddenly she comes out and says she's been called to an emergency at the hospital and canceled all the remaining appointments including myself as she ran out the door.3.Upon rebooking everyone when it came to my turn after waiting again they told me they could not accommodate my time because they are only open until 3:30 and unfortunately I cannot book more time off so the earliest I could do was four. I really don't appreciate that it is ok to inconvenience the patient but not themselves. Considering the understanding they want from us and accommodating their schedule, they are not at all willing to do the same for you. As if our time is not as important, very disgusted.In conclusion if you want to risk wasting your time possibily with delays and the chance of your appointment being canceled at any given time I would highly recommend you save your time and use it to find someone else, good luck! Nurses were helpful but Dr. Brenda Kou was not. During the appointment instead of talking to us she spent taking calls on her cellphone. She didn't explain the situation of the surgery well. She got annoyed when my mother couldn't hear what she was saying !! I think she was worried about getting more patients to make more money. Not recommended ! She needs to be reported to the Ontario Doctor's Governing Body. The system doesn’t need doctors like this. We need more doctors that listen to you and care about their patients.

I read 2 previous comments which are not good before my appointment at 10:40AM on March 16th and I was a little worried. However it turned out Dr. Kou is a very good doctor like many other doctors I have met. After the hearing test, she sat down with me, asked questions in detail and carefully. Her attitude is good too and she asked me if it is ok I can understand if we talk in English (rather Chinese I think). She checked thoroughly and recommended me to have a MRI scan. When I explained to her that I could not do MRI test, and she explained me other options. With all these being said, the experience for me to see Dr. Kou is super and I was so happy with my visit.Other things I noticed is that Dr. Kou is very busy as I can see, also I saw quite a few notes posted in the reception area – they explains some common things as we experience from most of visits to other doctors’ office. I think they are very informative as well.Overall, Doctor is professional and very good, I strongly recommend her to any one with hearing issues.

What an awful experience seeing this doctor. SUPER rude receptionist that is not willing to help, she was yelling at the phone and right at patients face. The doctor was not patient at all, and asked us “why are you still standing here, there’s 10 patients waiting for me” when she did not tell us anything about what we should do. Well, if I had choice, I would never come back to see such a condescending and disrespectful one.

if giving zero stars was an option I would choose it. this doctor was so rude to me and my mother for no reason. she needs to learn some manners. we asked her one question and she went ballistic on us for no reason. her attitude was horrible and acted like a smart alec which she isn't. she is so full of her self and rude for no reason. worst doctor ever. how is she even a doctor? she is the worst. zero stars and L experience L doctor.

I wish customer service was more important to being a doctor. I cannot judge her on her medical expertise in the field, however, she needs to treat people with respect. I felt disrespected and would like to give the benefit of the doubt. After reading the reviews, it seems like a common occurrence for poor customer service. I understand she may be busy, however, she was condescending. I would encourage her to work on her customer service and hope that the medical community would retrain doctors to improve their customer service.Just because you are a doctor and we need to see you for medical expertise does not give you the right to be disrespectful. It is unfortunate that we cannot choose doctors and need to go with the family doctor's referral.

If you’re referred to see this Dr please do yourself a favour and ask for a different one... she’s incredibly rude from her tone, body language and choice of words. The whole time I was stuck in that room with her I was fighting the urge to confront her. She shouldn’t be working with people.I wish I had checked the reviews before going to see Dr Kou, I’ll deff be having a discussion with my family Dr about this referral.

I have been under Dr Lou's care for about 18 monthes. She performed the surgery I required on a rush basis and had me lined up for further consultations and treatment at Sunnybrook immediately. I have been very appreciative of her knowledge, connections and advice. She patiently answered all of my questions and I have no hesitation in recommending her.
