This Clinic has highly professional, sensitive and efficient staff.They genuinely help and guide you.I want to truely appreciate their staff and system as a whole.Thank you for showing light to so many individuals struggling to get out of darkness.

Claims to want to help yet I was supposed to be called FOUR times by a lawyer and no one contacted me. This is the FIFTH time I will be calling to ask to reschedule. I have a matter before the court in LESS than a month and I’m not even afforded the courtesy of being told no one is available to call me. Funding needs to be put elsewhere.

This place is absolutely useless first time I went they couldn't help me at all the second time to help with legal advice pointless! I feel like Barbra Schlifer centre does not help women who have been abused l feel like the abuser wins and the abused is the looser.

The Barbra Schlifer Center has saved my life more than once with their compassionate, professional, cohesive approach to complex issues.They bring women together in powerful dynamic groups that leave you enlightened and strong in a respectful circle of wise women facing extraordinary circumstances.They build community, empower and inform.If phone calls are not returned call back. They are 1 office in a sea of thousands of women climbing ... Surviving ... Thriving.

I've had consistently poor experiences with this clinic. I follow the directions and leave messages but no call back ever comes.I finally just went to the office and did get to speak with a pleasant woman but there was literally no assistance beyond that.I keep getting referred to Barbra Schlifer clinic and have tried yet again. I did receive a call back from a muffled, hard to hear woman who said call them back at extension 234 to leave another msg of when is a good time to call me. I did this and just got a long winded message that then repeated in French but no option to leave a msg.I called back again and left another message on the general intake VM with my availability.Will see what, if anything happens next.Very big disappointment.

As per many recent reviews, this place is absolutely useless. They are utterly failing victims of domestic violence. My ex-partner was charged with assaulting me and the case is going to trial. I was told over the phone I wasn't eligible for legal support because the lawyer that the intake worker contacted 'wasn't an expert in these matters going to trial'??? And yet later, when I looked on their website, I found that their legal support service page purports to provide exactly this support. I have since reached out 4 times over the course of a week to ask for clarification and I've received 0 responses. Whoever funds and directs this organization should be ashamed of the harm they are causing people who are already in an incredibly vulnerable situation.

I appreciate this clinic for helping me during a difficult time. They referred me to two different lawyers, but I could not reach the second lawyer, so I opted for the one available out of desperation.She helped me contact legal Aid and ended up putting her name on the certificate then everything changed.I filled my case in court in 2018, and I am still in court as every time we tried to reach an agreement, she would look for a way to mess it up.I became frustrated with everything, so I reached out to my ex, and we agreed on the term highlighted in our offer. Still, my lawyer insisted I attended a settlement case conference even when I had no pending issues to argue.She tries to scare me with court rules and regulations, but I let her understand I have the right to choose the option that is more convenient for me.She told me she would forgo the next court, February 7. if my ex could sign the agreement before February 7. I responded it would be unethical of me to use his out-of-town situation as a ground for a case conference. She is aware he is not available.She told me to request more hours from Legal Aid because I had less than 5.7 hours on January 27, but I told her I only needed fewer hours since I wanted an out-of-court settlement.I told her I accepted my ex's offer to settle, so she replied that I do not have any hours and that she realized my LA Cert expired in October 2022. However, she states in her email that she will only send my ex offer for me to sign once I reactivate my legal aid cert and request more hours.As survivors of intimate partner violence, we need family lawyers who empathize with our situation and do not re-traumatize us.I had no good experience and I will encourage the clinic to investigate this particular lawyer thoroughly before sending vulnerable women to her.We deserve better

I can't say enough about how fortunate we are in Toronto to have such an institution. They helped me, free of charge, on how to proceed with a professional harassment case. It is staffed by intelligent, dedicated, professional women... I only hope I can do more in the future to donate and give back to this much-needed clinic!
