Real talk, you have to go here if you're spending any time in Amherst. It's such an inspiring place. A cultural hub. I love seeing places like this that showcase maritime culture and talent. Not only is Deanne's work beautiful and accomplished, but she and her staff also support the development of other fibre artists on the region. They regularly host workshops and lessons. It's also such a comfortable environment. They have places to sit and have tea and oatcakes free of charge, and talk to other fibre art enthusiasts. As soon as I walked in I felt welcome. I felt like I was among friends.

The Mecca of rughookers is always fun to visit. There are numerous items to purchase and as many to inspire creative thoughts. Oatcakes are great as well.

I have been to Deanne's Studio in Nova Scotia. Wonderful fiber experience and all staff, including Deanne, were warm and fuzzy.She is giving us free teaching every Thursday afternoon for 1/2 hour on facebook. Turn on her Podcast every Monday and you will enjoy another wonderful experience.

I love going into this shop. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. I also love that they support other local crafters( handmade pottery mugs, NS grown lavender products in the bathroom)

Far too dangerously fun for my budget! Wonderful colours of roving, skeins and wool or jersey fabrics, hand-dyed on site. Lovely, well-informed staff who can talk about the materials with knowledge but won't crowd you on your happy browse.

I was very disappointed with the two Rug Hooking kits that were mailed to me. The reason being that I did not expect a 10” x 7” rug hooking kit for $80 to be mainly yarn and only include a few poorly cut wool strips as pictured below - Buyer Beware as the description does say wool strips and textures.

Beautiful wools and woolen fabrics for rug hooking. Deanne, the owner, and her staff are most helpful when choosing colors. There are ready made kits as well as linen material if you choose to make your own pattern.
