Dover Animal Hospital

Staff there is very warm, friendly, capable and knowledgeable. Prices seem reasonable. They do have strong opinions about certain aspects of pet ownership, do your own research and be firm in your convictions when going. Many people in my circle us and recommend this vet. This is our first time using them with a puppy. We had an adult rescue before that we also had to see them.

Would give zero stars if I could. Parents dog was turned away with a collapsed trachea, in distress and turning purple, because they weren't clients. Reporting to CVO and Humane society

The staff at Port Dover Animal hospital is very caring and my dog always gets top notch treatment. I appreciate that they call and follow up to ensure that she is recovering. I highly recommend them.

Claim they offer emergency services but when you have an emergency they refuse to see your pet. Reason given (after a run around) was too much time has passed since last appointment so we are no longer considered clients and 'they aren't taking on new clients' even though they still have our files because they are our regular vet. Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional, I've seen other reviews where they tried to force unnecessary service in order to purchase regular items (cone), had we known this in the past we would have never gone here in the first place. We were left scrambling to seek care for our extremely sick dog, hopefully we find help, thanks for nothing Dover animal hospital. If you value your pet don't take them here, find a vet that cares for their clients, this isn't it.

This is by far and away the most caring and professional vet clinic we have ever dealt with. We have a breeding kennel rescue cavalier with several breed-relevant issues and they have been wonderful with hercare. Wouldn't consider going elsewhere.

My parents, on holidays brought their dog in as they had an emergency (collapsed trachea). Their dog couldn't breath & was in distress. They were told that the vet was not in, my parents said they would wait & they were told they couldn't wait as the vet will not tend to their dog as they didn't have an appointment. My parents explained this was an emergency that this was life & death as she couldn't breath. They said they could not help & turned them away. My parents had to drive back home (2 hrs away) to take their pet to a local vet. Their dog was admitted for 2 days for observation, was placed on oxygen, steroids, other heavy medication & antibiotics to get things under control. Don't take your pet here. Not sure if this is a case of staff that don't care or a vet that shouldn't be in practice. When time is of the essence clearly neither care.

Don't take your pet here:My friends were vacationing in this area on June 20/2023 when their small dog went into an emergency situation (collapsed trachea). The dog was gasping for air. They immeditely rushed the dog to the Port Rowan Veterinary Clinic (which apparently is a satellite clinic of this one), only to be told that there wasn't anyone there to help them, and that the veterinarian wasn't due in for another half an hour. They decided to wait for the arrival of the veterinarian but were then rudely told that they should not wait, as they don't take walk-ins. They were then directed to this clinic (Dover Animal Hospital which claims to provide emergency care) & frantically drove here expecting medical treatment at this facilty. The dog needed oxygen and was declining rapidly. Here they were told by dismissive, rude staff once again that they don't take walk-ins. After getting no help at either facility they then proceeded on to yet another clinic where they got some temporary care. This poor dog suffered for six hours until finally being stabilized.

Yesterday I walked in to DAH with my 6 month old puppy Holly Godiva. Bee was so welcoming. I cried when I entered the examining room because its where I euthanized Rascal. Bee was so understanding and empathic. She just gets it. Followed by this was a thorough examination from Dr White. She was so informative! I learned a lot. Everyone at Dover Animal Hospital has been so kind and compassionate and caring towards our beloved pets - and us. We are so grateful that we live in a community with such quality veterinary care so close to home.Our first appointment was for the euthanasia of our beloved 21 year old cat (we just moved here) and we couldn't have felt more kindness and care if we had known them for years.Thank you to the doctors and staff for always being there for our family.
