What makes Amber Lea a fantastic place is the professionalism and experience of the staff, their dedication to the well-being and satisfaction of the clientele, and the sense of community fostered by activities organized by team members for the residents.All members of the Amber Lea staff team are diligent in the work they perform. Residents are treated with respect and receive the upmost degree of care, and are encouraged to communicate should any issues arise so they can be resolved. Every staff-member I have interacted with has been very helpful and accommodating with not only myself by with residents, and volunteering alongside them has taught be valuable skills.At Amber Lea Place, the satisfaction and comfort of all residents is the top priority among all staff-members. Employees are genuine in their concern for the residents, making it their personal goal to ensure all clients are comfortable. This sense of personal responsibility combined with the knowledge/experience of the staff creates and environment conducive to maximizing clientele happiness.Amber Lea is more than a retirement home, it is a community in itself within the community. Personable relationships are developed through the enjoyment of games and activities organized by Keith and his team who make it their goal to bring excitement and entertainment on a daily basis. I’ve seen firsthand the friendships that are developed in Amber Lea, it is a wonderful place to be.It has been an honour to get to know both the residents and staff alike. I have learned a lot during my time volunteering, and look forward to my day each time I walk in the door.

My parents recently moved to Amber Lea Place and the experience was amazing. The whole team including the Nurses, PSWs, the administrators, the dining staff and the activity manager have gone out of their way to make them feel welcome, at home and safe. They have provided love and support just like family and we are grateful for everything they have done to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Do not pay employees well or fairly at all. Work load for psw is impossible, you have to literally jog your entire shift just to almost complete everything. And then when you do not complete every task, you are disciplined for it and yelled at by management. The management here are awful. Especially the activities director. Keith. Very very rude person. He is the type that acts as if he is God or owns the place. VERY IMPORTANT INFO, this place also does not have air-conditioning. So in the summer it is hotter inside than it is outside. Staff are dripping in sweat. I even had to leave early a couple times as I passed out and vomited due to heat. The 5 flights of stairs staff are running up and down the entire shift do not help this matter. Only residents who are able to afford AND can go out and buy their own or have family get their airconditoners are able to have them in their room. Of course rent also goes up if you choose to do this. Residents who are not so lucky are forced to sleep in a room above 30 degrees. I have no idea how they could even fall asleep in that. You wouldn't believe how hot it gets in some of those rooms. Complaints from staff or family does not go far either. Management says they are in the process of fixing the airconditoning but they really do not even have one. They will point to a airexhanger which is not a air-conditioner at all. they have said it is being fixed 3 years in a row now. Residents who do have airconditoning will often refuse to come to meals in the dinning room as it is too hot for them. And that is insane to me!! Honestly.. This place is horrible. I worked here as a psw. It was my first psw job so I had nothing to compare it to. But now that I have been to many different facilities I know this place is just awful. Very very cheap. Management and the owner do not like to spend money at all. For Christmas employees got a photocopy of a 6 dollar lotto ticket with the writing hope we win" yup. They bought ONE ticket and photocopied it for everyone.I couldn't believe someone could be so cheap to their employees. As a psw I only made 50 cents above minimum wage. And the physical labour and workload I was given was absolutely ridiculous and impossible to even the best psw. There is so much more I could say about this place

The residents are very well cared for . Everyone seems to only have their best interests at heart. My complaint is how the staff are treated . Everyone should be equal as it is the job to serve those we are caring for . That said staff should all be treated with respect. This seems to be lacking here . Which made me uncomfortable and not stay.

Dont pay employées

My grandma was at Amber Lee years back very friendly staff we had zero complaints! Sad disgruntled employees need to leave negative reviews. Residents can have air units. Many facilities do not have central air (older builds). You have an option to have a unit for your room. Amber Lee pays their employees if you do not like your wage move on to another facility.

I must say Amber Lea is handling the pandemic very well. It must be very challenging to care for everyone during these times. My Mom moved in during the pandemic. She misses the activities and companionship because of her isolation. Mom has not gone without:) So far we are pleased. She really is enjoying going out for walks, by the building. Thank you Amber Lea!! ••••••Update••••••• 10/2021. I don't think the new owners have the proper focus. Too many hours have been cut for staff and it's affecting the care provided. Overworked employees are not the answer. Plus, the seniors are paying the same money for their care as they were pre-pandemic. It's not the residents fault rooms are sitting empty. Bring Amber Lea back up to the standards it once had, before the new owners!

We are very thankful that Mom and Dad have had Amber Lea as a home for many years. Since Dad died Mom has had a family of friends there to keep her company. It was difficult at first, especially for Mom, but soon she was very thankful to have all the activities and people to visit with. They could choose to join in the exercise programs, games and activities if they wanted, or to stay in their room. Mom is out of her room for most of the day doing activities. This helps fill her day. She loves the church service that is provided as well. Keith has been very kind in helping her with her computer many times when problems come up so she can keep in contact with her family. She loves how kind and caring Keith is. You can tell he genuinely cares for all the residents. We have joined the group in many outings that are very fun for all. If we ever have questions or concerns Ruby is open to talk to us and come up with solutions. It is reassuring to know that since we do not live nearby there is a nurse and others on staff to take care of Mom all the time. Betty Lewis
