*****Warning to people considering adopting from this facility***** I adopted 2 puppies from this rescue". I was told they were rescues from a puppy mill. I was also told they were brother and sister. They were very expensive for being rescues but i wasnt overly concerned because theyre adorable. The price should have been the 1st hint that there was something going on. Upon going to my own vet i was informed that infact these were not litter mates. One was a week younger then the other. The last strike that ultimately led me to write this review and leave a poor rating is that i have a friend who is a vet tech and relayed me information that infact the rescue really isnt a rescue but infact just a front for these puppy mills to sell their dogs.It would make perfect sense since this facility hosts dozens of these poor puppies and sells them for profit."

My husband and I just adopted two shelties last week and had a wonderful experience with the Safe and Sound Project! We dealt with Kaylie and she was great! We've had such a hard time getting in touch with other rescue organizations but the Safe and Sound project replied to our email and got us in to see the dogs very quickly. Kaylie made it clear that we could visit the dogs multiple times before/after making a decision about the adoption so that was really great for our dogs to start getting comfortable around us. The adoption fee is definitely higher than the average shelter, but you know that these dogs are receiving excellent care, especially as it is part of the Cambridge Animal Hospital. There were no surprises in the adoption process, Kaylie told us about current medical issues any of the dogs had and sent us home with ear drops for a ear infection one of the dogs had. Great experience!

We adopted a rescue dog from this program, and we were so impressed with the care these animals receive from the wonderful staff. The ailments our poor girl had when she was rescued were addressed before we adopted her, and she came to us ready for her forever home. If you're looking for a rescue dog or cat, I can't recommend the Safe and Sound Rescue Project highly enough. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

We adopted our best friend from Safe and Sound Rescue Project. We failed to realize there was a process and just dropped by. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. The den area was a bit crowded for my liking but there is a “romper room” where you visit with the pets to see who might be a good fit, personality wise. Our guy was a two year old male breeder who was so apprehensive of strangers but showed care and concern for all the other doggies. I knew the minute I saw him that he was the one. And, since would have difficulty finding a forever home (there were marking behaviours and the aversion to people were potential concerns). He took a bit to warm up-esp. to my hub. But it is now almost 1 year since he came home and he truly is the Best. Dog. Ever. He is as sweet as we were told he is (by the staff); we trusted it to be true and we could not be happier.

My experience with safe and sound was horrible disappointing heartbreaking . I am certain they are nothing short of money grabbers only interested in how much money they can get from you. I went through all the applications the visits to was told the 2 males maltese were $900. The female was more she was also sick and couldn’t be the other puppiesThey are from a puppy mill. The evening i went to pick up my male maltese puppy i was told he was sick also and i had to pay for medicine, also automatically they put me on pet insurance without my agreement and then they spring the puppy plan documents wihich would cost me another $1,000, plus tax on top of the $900. For puppy and medicine?? This plan covers vaccines and neuter . I told them I’ll pass on the puppy plan because I would take the dog to the human society and get it done there for $50.00 they told me i couldn’t get my puppy because i wasn’t getting the puppy plan. What’s the difference where i get the puppy neutered as long as i get him neuter? Well the fact is you buy the puppy there and your commited to only them all the money you spend goes back to them. Sounds like a total money racket, they don’t seem to care about puppies finding good safe loving. What a discussing place . I’ve taken my other dog there for the last 4 years she had all her vaccines everything she needed and i took her to the human society to get her fixed as well. So its not like I’m a stranger to this hospitalI would give safe snd sound adoption 0 stars if i could.

I found that I was misguided through the entire process!!!! First visit to see dogs available, then choose dog for 2nd visit. I choose 2 to visit with to see there personalities. Before I went back I called to make sure that the 2 dogs I was interested in were not pending adoption by anyone. I was told they were available and the cost was 800 each. Went back the next weekend to visit with the dogs and 1 had been adopted. ?? Next the person in the room with the dog told me he cost 1000 not 800. Left to find out the next day if I could adopt him. They called to say that I didn't get the dog because there were thousands of applications. Again?? And they drew a name out of a hat. #Neveragain

Quite upsetting experience. I wonder if they have done this to others. After being told that we would be able to help 1 of 3 dogs, 2 of which did not have a single application on it as of 5pm on a Friday, so we were told it would be very likely that we would have gotten one of the pups, we were told we would be called the next day, being a Saturday by early afternoon. By late Saturday night we called them and spoke with employees and left a voicemail and no one would call us back. It was not till Wednesday afternoon that we got a call informing us that the dogs went to other homes. VERY happy about that BUT, have the decency to let a family know when you said you would, you don't tell a family that they will get a dog, then you leave them high and dry. Even after multiple times of your co-workers saying that you have been informed that we were looking to follow up...and you still did not call back. Hopefully you are treating others with a bit more care and respect. Also the pricing for a small dog being at 600$ plus taxes is kind of gross, these animals need loving homes asap and you are cashing in big time.

Similar to a few of the other reviews posted here, my husband and I had a very disappointing experience with Safe and Sound Rescue Project.. We went through all the preliminary steps to adopti and then drove several hours to visit with a puppy that we were told was available. Because we don’t live in the Cambridge area (and therefore would not be using the vet services associated with this “rescue” centre) we were told that they would try and find the puppy a local home first, even if it meant the puppy would be left in the centre and not re-homed for several weeks. I assume this is because they are growing a client base through the rescue centre. We were also told that the adoption would cost 800 dollars plus the cost of neuter. This in my mind is the sale of a dog, not the process of adopting out rescues with the intent of simply giving them the best home possible. The whole experience was a bit gross to be honest, and left us with a really negative impression of the place. I would definitely not recommend.

So happy with the service we received. I was so pleased with how helpful and how caring the staff were. We were so excited to adopt a sweet puppy

Here are some things to ask yourself when you are considering this rescue". Where are the dogs from? Why do they only have small breed dogs? Why don't they do home visits or have fosters to rehabilitate the dogs? Why is the fee so high compared to other rescues? Why are they asking you to bring the dog back to them for vet care? Why are they insisting on "selling" you a puppy care package? Why aren't they asking you questions about your home and living situation when you are at your initial visit to see the dog? Are they really a "rescue" or are they a pet shop flying under the radar? Just saying..."
