Haven't been for awhile to what used to be my favorite bakery. Went today expecting the same great pastries and sausage rolls they've made for years. Very disappointed with the sausage rolls and cheese cake. Stale and obviously not fresh. Terrible customer service by arrogant and unfriendly staff. I'm suspecting new owners have taken over! Only good thing was the donuts which made me go in the first place.Don't plan on returning and don't recommend anymore!S

Avoid this bakery! Product is good, the service is awful and getting worse. Tried to ask what was in a danish and she balked, which one are you pointing at. Then tried to buy a danish. Then wanted to add to my order, she threw down the bag she opened, and got a box. I just wanted to buy more! There are lots of places that sell Rye bread and buns! Shame on you Empress! I have been shopping there for 30 years. This was my last trip to support them!

I remember the Empress Bakery from years ago, and I was shopping there a lot. It was one of my favourite bakeries. Not anymore. Although bread and pastries remain to be good quality, the counter staff is very unpleasant. They make me feel like they are doing me a favour, irritated by my presence.With new bakeries and pastry shops opening in the area, I am glad I have a choice of not coming back.

I've been going here since I was 5 yrs old. Although the ownershop has changed hands, it still beats and other bakery as far as donuts (Bismark here) and buns and friendliness.Yes, some things have changed, but that is what's happening all over the world.If there is one or two things they could do differently, it would be to bring the prices down and bring back some of the original baked goods like cakes. Also, the buns don't seem to be as fluffy or fresh like they once were.Still, you can't beat nostalgia! It's like waking into the store when I was 5 again.

Family went in today and got a few things. Was beyond dissatisfied with the service and the food. Cream horn was BURNT! Still can’t get the awful taste out of my mouth. Not to mention the whipped cream is actually cool whip. They reuse the paper bags that have food in them when you ask for it to be put in a box. I would tell everyone to avoid this place at all cost(it will cost you a lot of money as well).

Ok pastries. Whipped cream is stiff and has a plastic texture. Rude owner Vietnamese (?) lady. She was mean to my mother when she didn't have the debit or cash as she didn't see the sign. There are better ways to handle that situation than just yelling BYE" at her. Learn how to do business better."

Lovely European bakery. The breads and pastries are not over-sweetened or heavy - just classic German perfection. My favorites are: rye breads, hala, cheesecake, apple pie and Bismarks. Prices are affordable comparing to fancy competitors. Bring cash/debit, as no credit cards are accepted. Come early if you want to see bigger selection. Fast and appropriate service.
