Kanae Cafe

As soon as I walked into Kanae, my sense of smell was heightened with the wonderful smell of a bakery. There was a small line even though the weather was snowy. After a short wait, I was greeted with a friendly face. I opted to order 13 of their cream choux. They didn't have all the flavours there (went around 4:30 p.m. on Chinese New Year) so we got one of whatever was there and had to double up on two flavors.The choux was crispy yet light and airy. I loved the Asian flavours as it is not as sweet as some other eclairs. I personally tried the Ube cheesecake and the mochi one. Both were nice however I enjoyed the mochi one better. My husband had the raspberry & the Kyoho Grape. He is usually a raspberry kind of guy but he said that the grape was even better. At $4 per or 6 for $22 ($3.67), it is quite expensive as they are quite small however since it is so delicious, I would buy these as a treat occasionally.

I recently visited Kanae Cafe and had a mixed experience. While the cake slices were reasonably priced and tasted quite good, I was disappointed by the overpriced cream choux. While it was tasty, it didn't quite live up to the hype I had read about online. The cafe itself is cozy and the staff were friendly, but the cream choux left something to be desired.

We tried a selection of their cream choux, which was still slightly crunchy despite having been refrigerated from early afternoon to late evening. I personally liked the chestnut and ube cheesecake flavours, but all of them were pretty good. They were light, well-filled, and not overly sweet.We also bought a few individual cake slices, which were decent. Japanese-style cakes that aren't overly sweet or heavy. They also served drinks, but we didn't order any. Everything we bought was nicely packaged.It was fairly busy when we went in the afternoon, but it was a Saturday and Christmas Eve, so definitely understandable! The store is small, but clean and bright. The cafe is located in the new shopping plaza, so parking was readily available.

2023 April 3★Kanae cafe, is self branded as a Japanese choux café. The café footprint is small, with window seating options available.It's ok for a quick bite and that's really what this place is. The desserts, which are like fancy eclairs, come in a variety of flavors and are fairly expensive.These taste like stuffed puff pastries (Profiteroles or cream puffs) but given that they are opened faced, it lends itself to have other toppings.Creme choux $4 each, $22 for 6 pieces.Lychee - a good hint of lychee. Not overly intense. It's okHazelnut praline - a bit of nutty hazelnut pieces with a hazelnut creme. It's ok.Free Parking

Small size eclairs are perfect for snacks. We ordered chestnut, hazelnut, ube, grape, mango and pistachio with raspberry. The crunch bakery was the part I enjoyed the most. The hazelnut topping was also the highlight but a bit too sweet. $22 for 6 is acceptable price, but please note that they are smaller than the usual ones. Will try other flavours next time

This is a cute place for Japanese desserts. When you just opened I had tried their Cream Choux $4 for 1 and they also have mini bucket puffs $11.50. Love their cute collection $48. Preorder in advance.

So good! We tried 6 of the cream choux and the caramel crunch cake. Everything was so good! My favs are the hazelnut and kinako! The texture is just perfect and just right amount of cream, without being overly sweet. The packaging is also really cute and well designed
