Personally, I think this union is very unprofessional . Had to leave because on one of my job sites I was consistently being harassed and threatened, I brought it to the boss of the company but he wouldn't do anything because he was friends with the individual. So I took it to my union rep and he basically told me we can't do anything because the individual who's threatening you is a union member. Even though it is written in the union policy that harassment and threats are not allowed. So why should anyone pay union dues if this union doesn't even follow its own policy and standards?

This union is the most corrupt left in Canada. The union reps accept pay offs, they also have companies with union employees that the contractors are instructed to use if they want to avoid union fees but you will be grieved if you don’t. The members typically come untrained. Then their glorious leader Carmen thinks he’s Jimmy Hoffa playing mob boss. You wonder what’s happening to your union dues and tax money then ask your government why this union exists and why the head is still there. As one of the companies that went to their private events, I’d be asking why you all pay $20,000.00 for dinners you aren’t invited too through your fees.

I called to some information on making a career change and joining local 506. The ladies I spoke to were very professional and gave me all info I needed to get started. When I finally decide to make a career change I know this is the local I want to go with.
