English and Spanish Lessons in Toronto

Ella is a wonderful teacher. She is very professional, dedicated, organized, and above all passionate about Spanish! She cares about her students and is a very patient teacher. I have been working with her for over two years to practice conversational skills and the results have been amazing. She also helped me study for and pass the DELE exam, which is the Spanish equivalent to IELTS. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone, whether you're starting from scratch, looking to improve or supplementing classroom learning.

Ella is a fantastic Spanish teacher. As someone who has been studying Spanish for 3+ years in Toronto, I've had different teachers throughout my language-learning journey, and I can definitely say based on my experiences with other teachers and being an ESL teacher myself teaching a foreign language to students, Ella is excellent at what she does. She is the best Spanish teacher I have had, which is why I've been studying with her for 2 years now. She makes classes fun and creative by putting a lot of thought into designing the material and catering it to your individual interests. She is always open to adapting something specific I want to understand in detail, such as a song/interview/film/poem/or vocabulary related to a particular theme, into a class or a series of classes. This keeps class interesting, fresh, and fun. At the same time she pushes you and doesn't let you slack off, to keep you committed to your progress. She balances grammar and structure-focused lessons with conversation and language-immersion experiences which make the language come alive and grow your confidence, as it's an opportunity to see that you're able to use what you've learned outside class. These include holding classes in real-world settings where you can test your knowledge in context, and having conversations with native Spanish-speakers for your tests. Ella is a fabulous teacher, disciplined but very patient. I am with her just two hours per week but I have learned so much Spanish. It's frustrating at times, but Ella is always patient and kind. She varies her teaching methods, mixing in grammar, conversation, games, etc. I would highly recommend Ella (also known as Esperanza) to anyone wanting to learn Spanish.

I have been taking Spanish lessons with Ella for the past 2.5 years. Not only is Ella super friendly and patient, but she is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you understand what you are learning. Her lessons focus on different areas but I have been taking speaking lessons and I am very comfortable having conversations in Spanish, especially during travels, and understand a lot more too when I hear or read things in Spanish. Ella also has a fun way of teaching so it is a lot easier for me to remember things. I am looking forward to many more years of lessons with Ella ! :)

I have learned so much in the time that I've been taking classes with her. Her sequencing of lesson plans and homework make so much sense when trying to tackle a new language. She is uber creative with her tests/outings and ways that she has you learning different topics. And it's fun....so much fun and catered to things you enjoy and resonate with as well (see picture below of me teaching her how to do aerial silks in spanish)! She is beyond patient (as learning a new language is hard) and makes you work hard, but the benefits are amazing. I only wish that I could take 5 lessons a week with her!

Ella is a a very creative, patient and knowledgable teacher! Over the 1.5 years that I took weekly classes with her my ability to speak and understand spanish greatly improved. I went from being a complete beginner to being able to have conversations with spanish speakers, writing cover letters in spanish, understanding spanish movies and more. Her classes are always interesting, interactive, practical and help me learn new things each time. She is also very fun and kind! I recommend her to anyone - whether beginner, intermediate, or whatever specific skill you are hoping to learn - she can help you with it.

Ella is an exceptional teacher and a wonderful person. I have been her student for a year and I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in learning Spanish. Her approach is very practical in that language building blocks are integrated in lessons that are otherwise focused on application in real life situations. Classes are interactive and immersive. Work ethic is superb – totally reliable scheduling, always prepared, and provides consistent feedback. I am very happy with my accomplishments studying with her.
