Assman's Funeral Chapel

We had our father cremated with Assman’s in PG. They did everything I expected. When I wrote the obituary, I sent it to Assman’s to put into the Dignity website. When I checked it, I was impressed with the professional way they posted it. Nice work.After the awful arrangements made for my mother’s passing a few years earlier with a different company, in a different town, Assman’s was so good to work with.

I am very grateful for ALL the staff at Assman’s Funeral Home. They were very kind and explained things in detail. They were able to answer all questions I asked and made me feel supported when I felt alone. They created a calm environment for me to say goodbye to my loved one and made them look as if they were still here. I highly recommend their services as it was a better experience then I anticipated.

There are no words to really say how thankful you are for people when you have a sudden passing of one of your parents/family members.My mom had started having a lot of pain and discomfort, and nothing they gave her seemed to help her. She got worse after her 66th birthday and ended up being rushed into the hospital two and a half weeks later. They did scans and saw she had tumors all through her lungs and liver area, which was all cancer.I got to see her briefly and had to return home, She seemed like she would be okay until I returned but 4 days later as I was driving to be with her I got the call from her doctor saying she had passed away 15 minutes prior.My heart broke into pieces. I wasn't able to see her at the hospital by the time I got there as they had taken her to the morgue and had covid rules. I just wanted to hug my mom one last time, and I was an emotional wreck.I didn't know what the next steps were and was told to contact a funeral home. I went to Assman's and told the lady at the front what had happened, and she took all my information down. I am so thankful for the help and compassion they showed me as I tried to navigate this extremely hard time.Thank you for absolutely everything!!Irene, I truly needed someone like you during this process I was handling by myself. I appreciate you!!Rest in peace, Mom. ❤️

We recently went to Assman’s Funeral Chapel for my Stepfather’s service. Our first contact was Angela and she was amazing. She walked us through every step of the process with such compassion she made my mother feel at ease and comforted. We (my family and I) dropped the ball on a big part of the service and Angela was quick to save the day for us, not once but twice. I cannot express how much I appreciate Angela and the rest of the staff at Assman’s Funeral Chapel they helped my family through one of the most emotional moments in our lives, with care and compassion. I cannot say enough about them. Thank you all for being there for my family with nothing but care and compassion in our time of emotional distress. I would not hesitate to recommend them and sing their praises, as they stood by my mother and my sisters in our time of need with caring, compassion and such professionalism that is second to none. Thank you words cannot express how much I appreciate you all for being there for us.

This review isn’t about Angela personally. She was very kind to me and did her job. I’m posting this as DIGNITY memorial suggests I do via their online survey they sent me.I find the facility dated and old. Not a “classy” or “fancy” place. Everything there has been there since my grandfather died in 89’ and I don’t find the overall experience either impressive or at the level the prices of the services suggest.The names of the “boxes” available seem insensitive and are exorbitant in price. We are all aware a cardboard box does not need to cost $700. The experience buying one however - should feel luxurious a little shouldn’t it?I also know the rush for a death certificate is real - however, I know my mothers birth place and it’s just been listed vaguely. I asked to call back with it and was told it’s not that important. If I’m not sure they just put unknown or the province. Should this not be correct for vital stats? My mother’s information is important to me. I would like this resolved.Also we called from the bank to pay via my mothers estate the call was disconnected no one has ever called me back. They were aware of who we were calling regarding so I’m unsure if this is normal practice.This “experience” cost over $4000. As I’ve paid for three family members to go through this location I feel it may be time to try a new place…hopefully no one dies anytime soon. Knocks on wood*

First of all:Compassion goes a long way.Not a NumberThis is a business for you, but for us, it was a massive loss of our father and husband. Our King.We we're lied about the date of cremation and was a shock to get a call a week later, and he wasn't cremated, so our loved one sat there for 2 weeks unbennounced to us. We felt heartbroken.Next, we received our necklaces and were not shown until I asked to see the finished product. Glen just handed the boxes and was about to walk away. i called him back. We need to make sure everything is perfect (proper names-not broken), etc.We were also told our necklaces weren't in and hearts were but it the other way around.Also told, we needed many death certificates as we found out government agencies need just a copy. Another misleading statement.I also said that all the paperwork and private details should be done in a private setting as this was such a tragic loss for us, but it was done in a public setting as another funeral was going on and a viewing. Unprofessional. Discretion is a must

The staff were all kind and explained the whole process clearly. They added in extra touches of who my loved one was, because they took the time to sit down with us and listen to us. They are very understanding, compassionate and supportive.

Everything went very smooth Len and I had preplanned and prepaid for what we wanted to be done and had everything setup ahead of time.The staff at the funeral home was very professional and was always there to assist with any questions or concerns. The response time was excellent and the whole experience went very smooth.It really helps when you have everything prepaid and things setup ahead of time. Papers, wills, power of attorney, bank accounts, in place as there is a lot of paperwork to be completed and it you have things in order it will make a big difference.You need a lot of information so know and have birth certificates, marriage licenses, parents full names and birth places as you will need all this information. It is a hard time and it will make things a lot less painful if you have all the information together ahead of time.
