Unbeatable service. We are on a weekend road trip from Nelson to Penticton and found our tire became flat due to a nail. We made it into In Gear on a Sunday with no guarantee that they could take us in as they said they were already booked for the day. But they agreed to take a look at it. In the end they patched up our tire in one hour and we were back on the road again. Incredibly thankful to Todd and the team who didn’t have to squeeze us in so last minute. Thank you for saving our tire, weekend and vacation!

This garage is fantastic. Open 7 days a week, the mechanics and front desk are courteous, helpful and very knowledgeable in their work. They got us back on the road as quickly as possible for a 91 westfalia vanagon.

Great hours! 7am appts are perfect for me. Great service...friendly, timely, they even have a courtesy car! Open 7 days a week which is really great since I drive for my living. I have found my new steady mechanics!

I got a flat tire on Saturday night in Castlegar while driving from Osoyoos home to Calgary. I showed up at In Gear when it opened at 7 on Sunday morning. Todd and his techs had me on the highway again by 8, with confidence in a job well done. The only shop open Sunday between Vancouver and Calgary. I got lucky! I highly recommend this team.

We were driving through Castlegar on our way to Van Island when we had car troubles. The belt snapped and we thought for sure we were going to be staying the night. Well, Mike was willing to help us right away and we were in and out in less than an hour. Shocked and grateful to say the least. They were super kind and pet friendly as well (we had 2 cats and a dog travelling with us) so it meant a lot that they were so willing to help us out in such short notice. Amazing business and even better service! :)

Just popped by on our way through town as our truck had a check engine light pop up, we showed up unannounced and needed a code reading before continuing our trip. We were helped immediately and reassured we were safe to continue on our way! Really lucky to have found this shop today!

Absolutely excellent. Squeezed us in on a busy Sunday when we had an emergency en route from Nelson to Penticton that might otherwise have seen us forced to overnight in Castlegar.Friendly, good prices, quick work.Incredibly grateful, and would recommend highly recommend them.

Very helpful and so kind. They helped us out with an inspection on our brakes and contrary to most mechanical shops, told us we were a-ok and did not require anything! All free of charge and at the tail end of the workday.

Honest mistake? Took my van in to have a faulty emergency brake diagnosed and was told my front pads (less than 1mm left) and rotors (warped) needed replacement (at an estimated cost of ~$800.00). Seemed ‘odd’ considering front brakes were done about 6 months earlier; however, based upon having previously owned vehicles serviced by In Gear I trusted their recommendations. HOWEVER, I went with my gut instinct and took my van to another service centre and was told and SHOWN the pads and rotors were in fact in great condition and didn’t need replacement! Needless to say I went back to In Gear, expressed my opinion and told them not to expect me back ! The service reps offered no explanation saying they “trusted their mechanics and wouldn’t sell parts or do unnecessary repairs “. Well I guess that’s not always true…. at least in this case…. Or maybe it was an honest mistake? Or maybe the mechanic needs to explain his diagnosis! ** Follow up: at the request of the service manager I took the van back to their shop so they could see with their own eyes that the brakes did not require replacement. The service manager and one of their mechanics agreed that the brakes were fine and didn’t require any repairs or replacement. Looks like a mechanic needs some accountability! Maybe a new place to work?

We were on our way to Osoyoos when the power steering pump pulley popped off just outside of Castlegar. We managed to hobble into a campground and coast our truck into town. Jenn went above and beyond to help source a replacement pump (which was no longer available from the dealer and several aftermarket parts suppliers), give us a lift to our campground and ensure we were taken care of.
