I hired The Lazy Gourmet for a National Conference I helped to organize in downtown Vancouver. Their service was right on time (and we had four separate deliveries on that day), the quality of the food was excellent, and customer service was very responsive. I would recommend them for any corporate event.

Amazing food, prompt service and easy to work with! We had an upscale corporate event and they were extra early, pre-maid cards for information about the food served and were very easy going. Just a joy!

They were the caterer at a wedding I was photographing. My client was kind enough to arrange a time for my dinner and they told me that I could enjoy the same buffet dinner that they were having. When it was time for my dinner break, a lady from the caterer told me that my dinner was ready in the kitchen and so I went. This gentlemen in the kitchen showed me 3 plates on the table and said I could have those for dinner. Those 3 plates were leftover snacks from the cocktail an hour earlier. I am sure the gentleman had no idea about my dinner arrangement, at the same time I had no idea what my client had arranged with the catering team, so I asked whether there is proper meal instead of just leftover snacks. The gentlemen grew impatient and told me that he wasn't told to give me proper dinner. I insisted. He then pulled out a tray of Ravioli, scooped a couple of spoonful onto a plate, and handed it to me. Frankly I was a little upset but I didn't want to make a scene so I took the plate of Ravioli and left. I ran into the groom in the hallway and asked whether I could get some food from the buffet and he said I was more than welcome to, so I got my proper dinner from the buffet table at the end.The food was okay, not great. The beef and the chicken were slightly overcooked and were a little chewy. I would give 3 stars for the food, and 1 star for the service (I know I was not their client, but I was served by them on behalf of my client after all), so overall 2 stars.

We have booked The Lazy Gourmet for several cocktail & canape receptions, as well as private luncheons and dinners. Most recently, the team catered a large company reception that was centred on west coast inspired menu items. From the initial point of contact, to the incredible event execution (both delicious food and unique craft cocktails), to the personalized follow up after the conclusion of the event, we find ourselves continuing to go back to The Lazy Gourmet for every event that we host. Highly recommend working with this passionate and dedicated team that values exceptional service and uses nothing but the highest quality ingredients.

Fantastic experience! Ordered food for a work related event. We went with 60 of their bowls and some other sides and drinks. The crowd was very impressed with the variety, the quality, the flavours. Will use them again for future events!

I've had the pleasure of ordering the Lazy Gourmet's Valentine's Day menu which consisted of an amazing charcuterie box and a yummy dessert. I also sent this to a friend as a gift, which I highly recommend for making someone's day because the food comes beautifully packaged in a substantial box. I attended several events where The Lazy Gourmet was the caterer and the food is always delicious and their staff is always friendly and professional. I look forward to trying more of their offerings.

The Food is amazing but the Communication is awful. But my review will be based on my experience as a whole.I hired Lazy Gourmet to cater and supply items for our October 2022 Wedding back in January 2022.The communication and customer service started off amazing, they where a preferred vendor at our chosen venue and came HIGHLY recommended from our events coordinator. However, looking back, the pandemic was still ongoing and not many events where going on around the city. As things opened up, my communication with Lazy Gourmet began to fall.About two months out from our date I wanted to confirm rentals, food items and make small changes to decor needs. It took many calls and e-mails to get a response. I understood it was a busy time due to Lazy Gourmet booking more events. As they should because their food is amazing. However, when you feel you have been forgotten about and pushed to the back of the line, it doesn't leave a good taste in your mouth. Especially when you are the bride planning your big day.After leaving many messages with reception to get a call back a month out, I had to pull in my events planner to get some kind of answer. I'm still waiting on a call back and my wedding day has come and gone.Our guests on our wedding day, raved about the food but had to leave for coffee/tea as I wasn't able to confirm with Lazy Gourmet about these needs due to the fact that I wasn't able to get a call back from them.Would I recommend Lazy Gourmet based on the food alone? Yes, however it comes with a main dish of horrible communication.

I was shocked by my negative experience with Lazy Gourmet for a special event and was especially taken aback by the poor communication and disappointing customer service that followed.We arranged a chef to attend our event to prepare a BBQ on site. We spent time setting up a grilling area and did not work with other caterers who offered to deliver food but could not prepare food on site. We wanted to work with Lazy Gourmet specifically for this aspect of the service they stated they could provide.Communication with the Catering & Event Manager broke down completely on the day of the event. Staff showed up and started setting up pre-cooked food in hot plates, to our confusion. Nobody called to explain why there was no chef present to BBQ on site, as agreed. The serving staff didn’t know what was going on, and my guests started to arrive as I tried to contact LG to find out where the chef was. A call to the general LG line, as well as the Catering Manager's cell phone, both went unanswered. An email to the CM was also unanswered on the day of the event.Enjoyment of our event was impeded by the confusion and frustration caused by the last-minute change in service provided by LG, and the fact that nobody from LG proactively contacted us to explain what had happened.The CM responded to my email the next day and stated the chef had called in sick. She stated we would not be charged for the chef (obviously, since the chef did not attend) and offered a “special consideration discount.” This discount ended up being the removal of a charge for 2 hours of staff overtime. Our original invoice quoted 6 hours staff time while our final invoice reflected 10 (CM offered to reduce it to 8). CM under-quoted us significantly for staff time on the original quote and tried to convince us that not charging for 2 of these extra hours was an appropriate remedy to the disappointment and stress caused by their lack of communication.An additional issue was that several kitchen items from our home were taken by the LG staff (by accident – I’m sure they inadvertently got mixed up with items brought by staff).Although we set up a day/time to call CM to discuss these issues she did not answer our call at the agreed time. She did not respond to a voicemail (following our attempt to contact her) or an email providing her with a call back number. CM did not offer an explanation for missing this call or attempt to reach out to us. We called again a few days later and found her unwilling to consider any better resolution than removing 2 hours of staff overtime from our bill that were not included in our original quote.Four months after our event, a different LG staff member contacted us regarding the final invoice and the whole conversation began again! We eventually reached an unsatisfying resolution, despite never receiving several of our items back. We were also told that I would receive an apology (unsurprisingly, I never received any follow up).Although I’ve used LG for personal events in the past and my workplace has frequently used them for large-scale events, I would never work with them again after this debacle. It seemed like they did not care about retaining us as customers or making us feel our event was special. I entirely regret using Lazy Gourmet for one of the most special events in my life and am appalled by the poor communication and atrocious attempts at customer service.

Amazing cooking class!We have loved and used the Lazy Gourmet for over 10 years! With the loss of events and catering came an amazing opportunity to try their cooking class! A beautiful box with a 3 course meal came fully ready for us to roll up our sleeves. Each course had everything portioned out, instructions and everything we needed. The amazing Chef led us through each course, making sure that we were all following, and answering any questions along the way. He was charming to say the least! We set up our TV in the dining room so we felt like we were right there! Our box also came with cocktails which were outstanding. We absolutely loved our cooking class. We don't think we will be quitting our jobs anytime soon, but perhaps with a bit more practice we might get offered a job! ;P Highly recommended for birthdays, family events, or corporate! It was an absolute blast!
